Hello from a confused something or other :-P
« on: November 08, 2012, 09:32:51 am »
Hello,

My name is Manuel. I am currently a Melkite Greek Catholic. I have been Pagan in the past as a Wiccan and flirting with Asatru, and looking at other spiritualities at that time. I have recently read wto books on polytheistic theology. The first was "A World Full of Gods: An Inquiry into Polytheism" by John Michael Greer which gives a more philosophical and rational argument for polytheism. The second was "The Deities Are Many: A Polytheistic Theology" (S U N Y Series in Religious Studies) by Jordan D. Paper which gives a more personal reasoning from experience on polytheism. I loved both these books and they have reopened my mind to the possibility of the pagan religion once more as my spiritual path. I stopped practicing because I came to a point where it just did not make sense to me. But these books really helped out, especially the first, in helping me rethink what a god is. That a god doesn't have to be the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent deity the monotheist believe in. They can be way more powerful than us but still limited. I do no think I would follow the typical wiccan understanding of divinity, no offense, which is closer to monism than polytheism. I am looking at the reconstructionist paths this time which I scoffed at, I do not know why, last time. I would consider myself more of a hard polytheist for now. I hope to be able to grow in understanding and make new friends on here. :D: Thank you for the opportunity.

Welcome to TC!

What do you mean by reclaiming leanings? I'm curious as I have never heard that term before. How is it different?

Thanks,

Manuel
