If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

So what's the Christmas song that you just love to hate?

Mistletoe and Wine by Cliff Richard is utterly ghastly.

I think it's called, "simply having a wonderful Christmas time".

That horrible song played several times per day when I was working retail last winter.

I'm a huge fan of most Christmas music, especially the old classics with Bing Crosby and Andy Williams. I would have to say the only 'Christmas song' I genuinely dislike is the song 'River'; which is depressing and whiny and not-at-all festive.

I add to this, tentatively, 'Hard Candy Christmas' by Dolly Parton. It's excellent as a Country song alone, but not as a Christmas song for the same reasons as 'River'.

Christmas is pretty miserable for a lot of people.  Sometimes it's nice to have a song that reflects the grief and loneliness in the midst of all the forced cheer.

"There isn't a way things should be.  There's just what happens, and what we do."

In that spirit I give you , which is my favourite Christmas single of all time.

The former is not only obnoxious, but it's basically about someone putting out to Santa which can get rather mental image-y.

Pleasant Dreams:dwink:

Doesn't bug me. The Ogre dresses up as Santa for the Burlesque Xmas Party every year. So when Santa Baby plays, I just smile and think about him. Especially with this line:

Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing,
A ring.
I don't mean on the phone

:ange:

There. Now you can have a mental image of Grumpy Cat and Ogre Santa getting it on, instead.

It was right after:  ("Santa Claus is Coming to Town"

There was supposed to be a ) there, but there's a blue smiley instead.  At least on my screen.

I've noticed this frequently in other people's posts, too.

I see a ).  I'm thinking it's something on your end, mainly because the only blue smilies we have are :(, :rolleye::,, and maybe :yikes: (which looks more gray to me).

It's a Tapatalk thing. I see it when I'm browsing the forums via Tapatalk, but not when I'm on my computer.

So what's the Christmas song that you just love to hate?

I'm not sure what it was called, but, at the xmas party on Saturday, Evil Bastard was playing Christmas songs before the Karaoke started, and there was one that was a hip-hop-ish mashup of White Christmas, with this incredibly annoying chorus that went "And that's what I want / that's what I want / that's what I want for Christmas", and I had to leave the room or I would have destroyed everything connected to the music producing electronics and probably used parts of Evil's body to do so.

(Evil's a nice guy, but if he ever plays that song in my presence again I will have to be held back by the Ogre, or face spending a long time in jail.)

Ah.  Thanks.

That makes sense.  I'll try to notice the next time I'm here via my computer.

I hate all Christmas songs.  Except for anything by Trans Siberian Orchestra.  For some reason I like TSO songs.

I don't consider TSO pieces to be Christmas - just winter

Anything winter is Christmas.  At least in the US, just accept it.

Indeed.

I worked retail over the Christmas holidays in two separate stores, and I pretty much want to rip the speakers out of the wall/ceiling when Christmas music starts playing, anytime, anywhere.

Particularly odious was the Jackson 5 version of "Up on the House Top". I just...auuugh!
