If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

While the lyrics aren't Christmasy, this was a Christmas Number One so it counts-

I could have happily gone my entire life without knowing this existed. Thanks, Jabberwocky.

Anyway, I don't think that there's any song that I dislike more than the rest. I'm pretty much just sick of them all. Except this one:

It's my favorite. :dwink:

Gag me with a plastic vorpal blade. It's far too early for that.

You know, I am going to have to do what I threatened to do.  In the 'discussion' about happy holidays that I had on Facebook, one of them commented that she;s been doing the all christmas all the time after thanksgiving at her library (20 some odd years) and no one's every complained other than to ask her to turn it down a little.  Now, so far as she's concerned, it's a library in a small town, so there's no anonymity, and two, I know her and I wouldn't complain to her, she's scary (didn't want to say that out loud on facebook though).  But I said that I guess I would have to complain from now on everywhere that it's 24/7, especially if it's a repeated 20 minute track, because, while I like christmas music, yes, I really do like it,  by dec 2, I want to rip apart sound systems if it's playing all the time.

I nearly forgot unofficial TC rule #1 and was reaching for my glass of cider while reading this. Luckily I didn't get as far as taking a drink.

Sorry about that. I got that phrase from a friend in my D&D games in the early 1980s (when the "gag me with a spoon" phrase was popular). His "gag me with a plastic vorpal blade" version was much funnier.

It was brilliant, must say. :)

Though I draw the line at "Christmas Shoes" because it's less "depressing" and more "manipulative and an underlying message that subverts the intended one."

Oh yes, I hate that one, for the very same reason.

I think I can only handle the classics, when it comes to Christmas songs. Seems like contemporary artists though, have figured out that if you write a Christmas song, no matter how awful it is, it will get airplay.

Over...and over... and over and over and over... bring on the royalties checks!

As pointed out in another thread, the holiday season starts earlier every year to the point where (US) Thanksgiving is now "Christmas, Part One."  So like it or not, it's that time of year again where you can't walk into even a convenience store without being assaulted by numerous versions of "Jingle Bells." Some of us enjoy these songs, even the kitschy ones. Some just smile and try to ignore them. Others just want to take a chainsaw to the store's music system.

There are certain songs that cause reaction number three in even the most mild mannered people. Throughout the years, it has become traditional here on TC to list our most hated Christmas songs and make fun of them.

So what's the Christmas song that you just love to hate?

It's...November 3.  There are Christmas songs on the radio already?

They (meaning two different stations) started playing them in my area the day after Halloween.

Micheals should, it's a craft store, in fact all their christmas stuff SHOULD be out in June,  It should be on sale now, so you can buy for next year.

THe grocery store, not so much.

I give craft stores a pass on this because making things (whether decorations or gifts) takes time.

In London we had a phase where the shops were simultaneously pushing merchandise for Halloween, Guy Fawkes Day, and Christmas. Two down, one to go... Oh, and the workmen have just finished putting Christmas decorations on the lights in my local high street. Bah, humbug!

THIS!

Although, in my case, it was a department store. Before they did a token Halloween display.
