Dont know if this really counts but whenever you have a candle holder thats got wax on it (or the last bit of a votive that wont burn), soak the holder in hot water. The wax will melt into the water or just slide right off/out of the candle holder.

I have a question - does anyone know how to get grease off of grill pans? I just cant seem to get the damned things clean!

I have used baking soda and vinegar to help me with this. I just let it soak after the baking soda goes away and it really helps get a lot of the grease off for me.

How much should I use (as in the ratio between vinegar and soda)?

I am pretty liberal with both and do not use exact measurements unfortunately. :o

Arm & Hammer washing soda works for this too, just follow the directions on the box....

Arm & Hammer is a U.S.-based company, so you might have to look for an equivalent product. (Sorry, I've never heard of "washing" soda, so I can't give you any alternatives.)

Anyone else have any tips or tricks they use for anything similar

Does anyone know how to get rid of/keep away house hold pets (ants, mice, roaches, spiders...) My house is really old and prone to all of these no matter how much I clean. I have small kids and it creeps/grosses me out knowing they are in my house.

I had a giant mouse problem due to a local plague and I got one of those ultrasonic electrosomething plug in pest repellent things. It was expensive and not a "home remedy" but after having two mice getting frisky under a chair I was sitting on and finding mouse shit all over my house every morning I recomend it to everyone who has problems. I haven't seen any signs of mice since the day after I plugged it in. Still get the occasional cockroach but since they can survive a nuclear explosion I figure one oevery few weeks is fairly good.

Liberal semi-\frequent applications of borax around doors etc usually works.

I have small children and a dog & cat, do I have to worry about the boax poisoning them?
