2019 Donation Drive

It's time for our annual Server Donation Drive! We need to raise at least $650 (same as last year) to keep The Cauldron's server online for another year. Please help! Either hit that Paypal button to the right and make a one-time donation in any amount or set up a monthly Bronze, Silver or Gold Donor subscription. You can find more info in this message!

Donations as of 16 Sept 2019: $660 donated. $10 more our minimum goal! Let's beat last year's total of $99 more than the minimum!

Note: This total is updated manually, usually once a day

* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "".  If it starts with" (or "") you will get this error because "" is not technically the same website as "". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Anybody know about Astilbe?
« on: June 29, 2013, 07:21:49 am »
I recently tilled and mulched the other half of my L shaped front garden, and next year I plan on actually planting things. I'd like it to be mostly magical plants, based on Cunningham's plant and herb encyclopedia book thing. While it's quite expansive in its sheer amount of plants (many of which I've never heard of), it doesn't always give a detailed description, and it doesn't have many garden plants, such as astilbe.

I ask about astilbe because it's one of the few flowering plants that will survive on only afternoon (about 2-3 pm to dusk) sun in southern CT.

My questions (and discussion topics) are, are there other similar books out there, and specifically does anyone know what magical uses/properties astilbe has? I'm still very new to herbal magic so books on that are helpful too.

Let's get ready to discusssssssss! Hehe.

EDIT: Duh. Should've done a search on here for books on kitchen/herbal magic. But I'm still curious about astilbe and if anyone knows of other plants that will grow in *maybe* 5-6 hours of afternoon sun in hardiness zone 6, I believe it is.
