As the tread title says: what, if anything, are you doing for the solstice today/tomorrow?

As it turns out, I'm composing a fairly long To Do list alongside this post.  I'll probably blog about it, so I actually won't write about it too much here, but it'll include the following:
  • finish making and hanging my summer decoration
  • some celebratory food and drinks
  • creating (as mentioned) a draft blog post, to be finished at a later date
And then on Monday my friend and I will be meeting for a belated mini-celebration (we'd usually be making a day trip to Avebury Stone Circle around now, but not this year in the circumstances - and we're not meeting until Monday as she's currently visiting with her significant other).

Probably nothing, since I can not think of anything.

what, if anything, are you doing for the solstice today/tomorrow?

My usual "Out All Day" celebration: Up and outside before dawn to watch the sunrise, and then I'm not allowed to set foot indoors (except for the briefest of bathroom breaks) until after sunset. In between I spend the day unplugged, wandering and exploring, on foot or on bike, taking time to smell the proverbial roses: feasting on fruits and ice cream and frosty cocktails, lying in the grass and napping in the shade, looking at flowers and trees and birds...and generally savoring life at its fullest.

It's my favorite day of the year, and a bookend to our Up All Night celebration here at The Cauldron. I chose tomorrow (Sunday) for it, so that I'd have more time to prepare.
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

As the tread title says: what, if anything, are you doing for the solstice today/tomorrow?

At the moment, I'm struggling with the fact that I rolled out of bed at 5:30AM, on the heels of going to bed at 1 AM.  Worth it for this view at sunrise (wish I'd gotten a video with sound - the birdsong was incredible):

As for the rest of the day, I'll likewise probably blog about it later, but the highlights:
  • Currently eating blueberry pancakes and fueling up with coffee
  • Short walk/hike this morning
  • Wrap up some cleansing/banishing work for friends
  • Picnic and swimming at my favorite river
  • Ritual work around the eclipse
  • Grilling salmon and veg for solstice dinner
  • If the weather stays clear, back up to the mountain tops for sunset

With any luck, I'll be able to sneak some writing in as well. And a catnap on the porch... or two... or three.

As we're still stuck at home, we're hoping to camp in the garden tonight. I haven't been good at doing complex rituals for a while now, but I'll look at the sunrise tomorrow (if I can see it through the inevitable rain), leave some outdoor offerings and meditate, and maybe do a reading for myself.

Happy Solstice, all!

And I just saw that Stonehenge is live streaming the sunrise tomorrow - https://news.sky.com/story/stonehenge-people-urged-not-to-travel-to-celebrate-summer-solstice-12010883. Like so many things during this time, it's an opportunity to see something I'll probably never do in person due to various disability things, so this will be lovely! If it's sunny, that is...

Thank you for sharing this   :)

I'm so jealous of your river swim, Aisling - I'd love the chance to do the same, but there's nowhere locally enough (plus it's still pretty chilly hear at the moment, anyway)

Our air temperature here isn't bad 22C/72F, but the water temperature will likely be about 13C/55F.  I may be a popsicle before I'm done.

I have been excited about this, though I hope there is some kind of replay (I think it's at a crazy time for me otherwise, like middle of the wee hours of the morning...and I don't get along with morning in the best of circumstances)

My friend's birthday was earlier this week, so he is hosting a social distanced gathering (just his household, me and one other couple)...we are taking extra precautions, will be hanging out outside (with access to a specific bathroom in their house for easy cleaning/decontamination afterwards).  I'm very excited, but definitely feeling extra cautious which is so bizarre!

But he called to tell me we are also going to be laying out a big all-natural sun mandala, which will be awesome.  I have some stuff packed ready to add to it, and I'll have to try to remember to take some pictures.

It might be better than you think - the times are pretty favourable for much of the US.

Here's conversions via a Forbes article.
Quote
The summer solstice sunset will take place at 9:26 pm GMT on June 20. The livestream begins earlier, at 8:41 pm GMT (3:41 pm EDT / 12:41 pm PDT) and can be watched here on Facebook.

Roughly seven hours later, the earth will turn back toward the sun and the momentous summer solstice sunrise will occur at 4:52 am GMT on June 21; the livestream begins at 4:07 am GMT (11:07 pm EDT / 8:07 pm PDT) and can be seen here on Facebook.

I'm planning to watch both (11pm is comfortably in my still awake time at the moment, especially on a weekend.) I am not attempting to get up for my local sunrise, but I'll go out and do something at sunset.

Me, otherwise
I spent the morning doing Litha ritual with the coven (distanced, and recording for one person who couldn't be there. I made this honey cake from Moody Moons last night, and had this Mid-Summer potion from Bri Saussy to drink (as well as some of Darkhawk and family's homemade mead from last year's batch I've been failing to drink. It's aging very nicely.

(I added a splash of rosewater, a tablespoon of orange extract, and some cardamom to the cake, because everything is better with cardamom.)

I'm about to go do a detailed Tarot reading, and I have candles going on the altar.

Stunning. And yes--birdsong next time, please!

I'll definitely shoot some video with sound the next time I'm up there for sunrise.

There was literally not a second of silence in the 45 minutes that I was there. I could hear and/or see brown creepers, thrushes, warblers, crows, a raven, as well as a couple of woodpeckers drumming along. There were more songs that I either couldn't tease out of the general chorus or just outright don't know.  They did an outstanding job of singing up the sun.

As the tread title says: what, if anything, are you doing for the solstice today/tomorrow?

I worked today, so tomorrow will be celebration time for me -- which works, because in my tradition Summer Solstice is a holiday for Manannan, aka Dad, and tomorrow is also Father's Day.

It will likely be very lowkey as my place is still unmitigated chaos, but right now I'm thinking maybe I'll make pancakes and give him an offering of coffee in his "Dad, you're out of this world" mug. Then something something, thanking Brighid for her guidance over the light half of the year, welcoming Manannan as he takes over, something something, some candles lit or something, I have no idea.

And I should maybe look at doing something to nod to the "paying the rent" tradition, but not entirely sure what yet....
Pray drunk. Hex sober.

I woke at sunrise!  Of course, it's raining here...

It’s still up at the Facebook page at https://m.facebook.com/englishheritage/ . I just watched it after the fact too.

My plans entirely failed for various reasons but I did sit in the garden and watch the sunset last night. There wasn’t much of one, but it was nice!
