For me Autumn Equinox hands down. I love autumn, the weather is lovely- not too hot & not yet too cold. All the leaves changing colors.

It often also falls on my birthday (sept 22 ♥)

Birthday twin!

Autumn Equinox is also often my favorite - what's not to like about a festival centered around good food, good company, and a chance to pause and relax between the more active work of the summer, and the more introspective work of the winter?

I have the same birthday! Not that I really do much to celebrate the equinox (or my birthday). But it's cool because I have friends born on the solstices.

I guess my favorite pagan holiday would be Yule. I like colder weather and it's coming in by then. Plus my friends and I have ridiculous traditions. We're all different religions so we just end up combining a bunch of stuff and making up our own things.

So far my favorite is Yule as well, probably for two reasons.
This year i actually managed to have a good get together with a big bonfire and everyone had a great time(it wasn't overtly pagan) so far my most successful holiday.
The other reason is that i start to plan my spring garden, though this year i was able to keep growing into winter, which is always fun for me.

For the sake of getting things rolling in this subforum, here's a real easy one:

What's your favorite Pagan holiday or festival, and why?

Beltaine because when I was young and foolish it was a good excuse to be a bit wild. (I'm still foolish if not so young). I also love new beginnings and the beginning of Christmas season so it is also generally a favourite time of year.

My second favourite time is Imbolc because it's my birthday and I figure I deserve a holiday for my birthday.

Most of my favourite holidays are not the usual ones (because they're too mainstream! :D). Anthesteria, which is a festival to Dionysos that honours Him, His marriage to the Queen, Erigone, the dead, and Hermes Psychopompos. Hexennacht, "Witch's Night", which is celebrated the night before Bealtuinn (alternatively called Walpurgisnacht). Yarilo's Day, which for me I honour Yarilo-Dionysos, falls on a day early in July.

To get more "mainstream"(:D), my favourites of the typical Wheel of the Year are Samhuinn, Winter Solstice, and Bealtuinn.

My first celebration was Litha, I lit a white candle in front of a mirror and said three prayers to the god and goddess, then I ate. it was very spiritual and I enjoyed every minute of it even though it was less grandiose than most observances.

I dont know that I have a favorite, except to say, I get very excited about observing each one, i look forward to all of them, kind of keeps a nice balance, not to much of one and to little of another in spirit.

Ashuru Ra'shu Yeni (Festival of New Wine) in late August / early September is probably my favorite right now.  It's a holiday to celebrate the summer harvest and the end of the religious year.  I tend celebrate when the grapes ripen on our vines and this usually coincides with a major county fair so it feels a bit like everybody is celebrating with me! :D

Like Jenett said too- it's also a special time between the work of the summer/year and all of the work ahead with preparing the garden and myself for winter.

Summer Solstice is my favorite by far. I get two reasons to drink myself into oblivion because that is my birthday as well ;)

I like the solstices, as I just like the themes of the holidays and the prominence of the masculine deity in them. Midsummer is the time of the Adonia, the death of the solar-vegetation god, and the Winter Solstice is the time of his rebirth from the dark womb.

The Autumnal Equinox and Samhain, for sure. Autumn is, by far, my favourite season so, naturally, my favourite festivals are during that time. I love the colours, the scents, the darker days, the cooler weather. Stunning time of year!

I, also, love the Aphrodisia, Greater Dionysia, Rural Dionysia and Anthesteria.

Mine by far is Samhain, although it's at a close second with Yule. Actually at first I didn't really like Yule. I've never really cared much for winter since I like warmer weather. But I have always loved autumn, it's just a beautiful time. But anyway, I actually liked Halloween before I was pagan, there was always something there that really hit me. I only really started to love Yule when I began practicing Wicca about a year and a half ago, and ever since then, I've grown to like both Yule and winter. Samhain still beats it out in the end though :P
"There will be rest, and sure stars shining. Over the roof-tops, crowned with snow. A reign of rest, serene forgetting, the music of stillness holy and low. I will make this world of my devising, out of a dream in my lonely mind, I shall find the crystal of peace,-above me stars I shall find." Sara Teasdale(1884-1933)
