And here in Calgary, it's steadily growing light, with about 20 minutes to go before sunrise time.

A sucess statistic for UAN:  previous record of 13 for the number of people in chat (which I wouldn't be surprised if it was set at UAN '11) has been broken, sometime over the course of the night when, presumably, I was too busy trying to keep up with the convo to notice such things, and now stands at 16.

A tad late, since I got engaged by chat convo, and then had to go upstairs, look outside at the glowy clouds obscuring the "sun" part of sunrise, and pour myself some mead now that I don't need to worry about it putting me to sleep, but THE SUN RETURNS! here in Calgary.  Another longest night successfully vigilled!

Nice!
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

Yes, you were - I recognized you right away (Union Jack + Missouri location + 'hedgewitch with neoWiccan leanings' = Jennifer Juniper!).  Really happy to see you again!

Thankyou! Nice to see you!

The UK flag with the Missouri location is a little strange to see still, but it does help to show where I'm from and why I sometimes spell things the way that I do! haha

Most excellent! I wish I was more comfortable with chat so I could join in, but on the other hand, this way somebody's got their lidless, flame-wreathed eye fixed on the thread (and after UAN, BOTH eyes are definitely flame-wreathed!)

I wish you had joined in; I'd love to chat realtime with you.  But if it's something you're not comfortable with, UAN really isn't the best time to start - possibly you could dip your toe in the water by checking it out at slower times, when there are only a couple of people around.

Or not; some people never do take to it.  But if there's anything I might be able to do to help you feel more comfortable, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hey, what is this thread?

Answer: A wonderful annual tradition made possible by the generous spirits of Randall and Lyric, to whom we owe a great big thank-you for letting us hijack their space to do this every year.

And most of all, thank you to everybody who participated, whether just dropping in or sticking it out all night long; whether in chat or the thread. You guys make the longest night go by like a snap! I wouldn't spend it anywhere else.

Well, didn't stay up all night, but still here. And the First Family arrived safe and sound, so the locals can now get on either hoping for increased biz (from the presidential gawkers) or complaining about all the security hold-ups.

Lyric and I are just happy to see this event happen every year -- even if are are both too dead to the world at night to participate. Thank you, Altair, for organizing this again this year. And thanks to all who participated -- y'all did far more than Lyric or I did to make it happen.
