It's 15:48 in Glasgow, Scotland and the sun has just set - though it's been hiding behind the clouds all day. The streetlights are on and it's getting pretty dark

And I've gotten the thread started early, so that those in the East of the world (Australia, Asia, and such), if any such Cauldronites there be, can get the ball rolling, since sunset on the evening of the 21st is fast approaching there.

Here's some helpful info:

The precise moment of the solstice is 5:30 AM Universal Time on the morning of December 22. For the North American Eastern Seaboard, that would be 12:30 AM EST on the 22nd (just after midnight on the night that begins at sundown on the 21st).

Sunset times on Dec. 21 for some key Cauldronite locations. (All times are local times.)

Berlin, Germany -- 3:54 PM
New York, NY -- 4:32 PM
Philadelphia, PA -- 4:39 PM
Lansing, MI -- 5:07 PM

As for this year's "non-theme" for this thread, it's sharing songs and/or videos that capture that holiday (whichever holiday you celebrate this time of year) spirit. (Thanks to Juni for the great suggestion.) Run with that or ignore it as you see fit.

Hey, I live in the Midwest U.S.A. so I go by central time. I understand that on the other half of the world the solstice is earlier but for here it is later, but is it the same day, the 2st?  I think it is but I also heard the solstice is on the 22nd.

Dinner time here; we're having sirloin of pork with baked potatoes, garlic butter, carrots and a salad. For desert is oranges in syrup with whipped cream. A minor way of celebrating.

I had my little healing ritual this morning as  it's the one time of the day I get to have the house to myself and it was pretty special because it was my first with both Maman Briggitte and Hekate... it left me feeling wonderfully cleansed from inside out and now it's 7.00 PM and I still feel so deliciously shiny clean.

Oh, that's my favorite carol, too! I can't wait to see this, once I'm done for the day with the annoying 9-to-5 job (or, since I'm leaving early for the solstice, 9-to-3:30 job).
