I forgot to post the sunrise. As soon as the sun was up I was out.

Greater wisdom for "Up All Night" can't be found!

So I think with that, we can close out this year's edition of Up All Night: A Technopagan Solstice Celebration...though folks should feel free to post any addenda to their experiences. To give some perspective, we broke the chat record and are finishing with somewhere around 23 pages worth of posts from a single night (compared to last year's 16 pages--and that was when the solstice was on a Saturday, and therefore presumably more folks could get involved).

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who participated, whether for the long haul or just to pop in and say hi, whether in the northern hemisphere's winter solstice cold or the southern hemisphere's summer solstice heat. I have a blast doing this every year, and I hope you did too. Special thank-you to Randall & Lyric, whose gracious offer of space for our cyber gathering is no less wonderful for it coming without fail each year. Without the Cauldron, this wouldn't have happened.

So without further ado, our traditional closing, echoing Olivia in verse:

 A WINTER SOLSTICE ADDENDUM

The sun has raised its shining head
Get your sorry ass to bed!
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

The images with the purplish underlay in the coals were taken on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.  I used the candle light scene setting to get the photos to show up properly as the nighttime setting wasn't cutting it.  The images were simply too washed out.  I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the purplish color is coming from something in the pine cones though why the other two cameras I was using didn't pick it up I couldn't say.  In any event, I like the effect.

A decent number of cameras will pick up infra-red.  You'll see it sometimes with pictures of smoldering cigarettes.
