A bit late in heralding the sunrise, but the sun is up here, somewhere behind the clouds, mists, and fog.  Good morning everyone and happy winter/summer.

I actually stayed up until almost 3am last night, talking to a friend on Skype... but everything was sore from overnapping throughout the day yesterday. ._. (I actually work up at 12pm yesterday but ended laying down and taking a bit of a longer power nap than needed around 4pm. It made me more tired than more awake...)

Couldn't still exactly sleep though and only managed to once 4am hit but I was still partially awake at 5am. Sigh.

Oh well, I wasn't planning to stay up all night anyways but wow I'm still kinda sleepy because I only got four to five hours of sleep. Drinking something caffeinated right now.

Apparently the sunrise was at about 8:06am and it's 9:43am now... can't believe it's only been light for that long.

I found a way to stay awake. Its mildy embarrassing but apparently dancing around the house singing Pink songs at the top of your lungs is a good way to stay awake.

I managed to stay up a couple of hours later than I had originally planned by bopping along to the Northern Kings (with the occasional giggle) and reading Altair's book. Whatever works. Of course, I ended up sleeping two hours past the alarm as well, so it evened out.

The blustery night dawned into an overcast, blustery day. Good thing most of the things needing done today are indoors anyway.

I slept because I had to, but it's daytime now even if it's rainy and cloudy and I can't see the sun. My solstice candle is still burning!

It's not technically sunrise yet, but it is light out enough for me to be assured the sun is on the way, albeit covered by a trillion clouds, and likely I will fall asleep after sunrise anyway. I am calling it a night and heading to bed, after my tiring night of cleaning out a space for the tree, setting it up, and decorating it.

I didn't stay upstairs to see the actual sun, since I'd been making food and wanted to eat it while it was hot, but I saw beautiful pink sunrise clouds. And it is now (just) past local official sunrise time, so I'm calling it: the sun has returned to Calgary!

It seems we had more people than usual powering through to the bitter end, which is kind of cool! But in case anyone is still in the throes of their long night (Hawaiian Cauldronites?), we'll see if anyone else chimes in with a report before we call this year's Up All Night a wrap.
