Up All Night, a Cauldron Tradition—2015!
« on: November 04, 2015, 10:52:26 pm »
The night straddling December 21/22 marks the upcoming 2015 solstice: the summer solstice in the southern hemisphere, and the winter solstice in the north. We have this crazy tradition here at the Cauldron of celebrating the December solstice with a cyber party that starts at sunset (wherever you are) and ends at sunrise (wherever you are), during which time we “gather” electronically in this space--posting anything and everything (but still within forum rules, of course) in a special Up All Night thread that opens on the solstice, and chatting relentlessly to help each other stay up all night—or simply for as long as one wants to stay awake and participate. Northern hemisphere or south, pagan or not, up all night long or just dropping in while you’re awake…it doesn’t matter, because everyone is welcome at Up All Night: A Technopagan Solstice Celebration!

The festivities will begin at sunset on Monday evening, December 21.

This Up All Night thread from last year gives you a taste of the merciless sleep-deprivation-fueled fun…but only a taste, because so much goes on in chat as well!

So…who’s with me?

And who’s got an idea for this year’s non-theme? (I have the beginnings of one, but I want to hear what you guys come up with first)
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

I'm up for it! (Heh)

I don't have an idea for a non-theme yet, but as soon as I come up with one I'll be posting it. :)

I am, as always!

I want, too, to note that, though chat has been much more dormant of late, I have every intention of being in the MUX and making sure the chat part of the UAN party happens.

As usual, I'll probably be there to say good luck and then check in the next morning.  I'd hoped to have the week off work, but it appears that will not be happening.

Yaaaaaaas

I'm so in. I've actually been looking forwards to this- last year, I had a blast participating, and I can't wait to do it again. :)

Thank YOU, Randall & Lyric, for giving us the venue for our cybercelebration every year!

And I'm happy to see so many longtime Cauldronites gearing up for the festivities...

Oof, I have only once succeeded at an attempt to stay up all night, and may have work, but I will at least join in for a bit, and hey maybe I can finagle something. It sounds fun!

This is SO going in my calendar! :D:
No idea about a non-theme, though.

Still chewing over this one.

What about something cosmos/larger picture focused?  I realize my geek may be showing, but I'm doing a 'one tiny speck on a little blue dot' themed working for solstice.  Trying to put the stupidity that has been 2015 into perspective.

As usual, I will be around for the start of the evening, not much past midnight (unless there's some awesome new read available, like last year ;)), and probably drop in again in the (my) morning, which will be the dead of night for the western hemisphere.

I will be around! Even if it does mean I have to go to work sleep-deprived (pretty sure I am not going to be able to get that day off).
I love a good metallurgical take on the phrase "What the F---?"

I'll be there for a while in the beginning and the end but I'll eventually need to sleep for a bit because toddler.

Not a real suggestion, but I would be cool with just Peace...

And of course, cute kittens (or cute animal of your choice)!
