Happy Halloween/Samhain 2013
« on: October 31, 2013, 12:57:26 pm »
To all those who celebrate it, whether culturally or religiously, enjoy!

And if you're dressing up, what are you wearing?
(I'm going with a wolf mask, myself)
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

Because I'm tired and I can't be asked to put on my pirate costume while I have to deal with very nosy and privacy-invading company; I will probably end up being slumber party barbie or wear my original costume from my first Halloween here. Both involve PJ pants :) the difference is if I wear the PJ pants with the skulls and crossbones, or the pink ones.

Thanks! And to you!

We don't do much of the dressing up thing here, although kids increasingly come to the door for chocolate - but not in the numbers they do in north America. I have some sweets just in case. Otherwise it's all religious stuff here.

Culturally here. As it finally quit raining, I bought some halloween candy to give out this morning. When it rains we only get 5 or 10 people, so I wasn't going to buy any until I saw what the weather was actually doing today -- because Lyric and I don't need to gain any more weight. :)

Happy Halloween/Samhain/Calan Gaeaf/whatever else everyone celebrates!

I'm going to dress as an adult gainfully employed in the food service industry!

Unfortunately I have to work tonight, so I'll only be doing some religious celebrating this year. I will be bringing a purple wig to work though, if by some miracle we're allowed to dress up (I doubt it).

Happy Samhain and Halloween!  I'm still on the cultural portions of the celebrations, handing out candy to the neighborhood kids.  The religious bits will begin later.

At the moment, I'm dressed as a responsible adult who happens to be wearing sparkly black socks decorated with skeletons.  That's as dressed up as I'm getting this year.

Happy Samhain and Halloween!

Not passing out candy. Just lit a candle and the room already smells like fresh cinnamon rolls. I've called to the dead and the gods and goddesses and invited them to come to the material plane for a while. I've left a few treats (candy, tres leches cake, pomegranate-raspberry juice and cranberry mixed with rum) for them - they get the first taste, and then it's my turn.

I promised some friends pictures of the costume I wore to work, so I'll be changing in a few minutes.
I love a good metallurgical take on the phrase "What the F---?"

I put on my renaissance gear and took my daughter's dress to her work so she could be in her costume contest (3rd), I was her lady in waiting.  (She needed help to get dressed anyhow).  We just finished a dumb supper, the kids went along with me.  I can't really get to the UU circle cause of trick or treating, but I plan to do something of a vigil and finish some religious work.  For trick or treating, I'm dressing up as a ordinary Christian housewife.  It's too hot for the renaissance gear.
