Happy Feb 2nd!
« on: February 02, 2018, 11:22:51 pm »
Whether you celebrate Imbolc/Candlemas, Lammas/Lughnasad, Groundhog Day, or just the end of January (aka the longest month) I hope you had a good one.

I had about 20 minutes this morning to put together a quick dedication and asperge my house with salt water and a rue sprig, which was the only really sacred thing I did for the Sabbat. The rest of my day (13 hours!) was spent working with the team on setting up and then hosting the Global Outreach charity auction at my school. It was exhausting but super worthwhile; I probably won't know any numbers til next week but I'd have to guess the money raised for the medical missionary work upcoming this year had to have numbered in the thousands.

Anyone else do something special today (or plan to)?

On the evening of the 1st (I celebrate Imbolc from sundown on the 1st to sundown on the 2nd) I had a mini quick and dirty ritual for Brighid. Nothing formal; the really big part of it all was finishing rearranging my room so I could set up my shrine to the Three again instead of having it in 2 boxes.

Put out some brats (including the ones for the Cill Imbolc exchange), gave offerings, said some stuff, didn't light a candle because I was so tired I probably would have burned the house down...which, on the other hand, would have dried out the flood, so.

And then I actually remembered to deal with the offerings the very next day instead of forgetting about them on the shrine until they're gross. I'm so proud of myself. XD

My best to all who celebrate it! I for one am simply glad to be that much closer to the end of this wretched winter.
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

I was sick between Tuesday night and today, and then had to take care of the missus after she got sick Thursday night. So we kinda postponed Imbolc plans until we're better. Same with my offerings for the Kalends. We were/have been in way too bad a shape to do anything but sleep, and I'd rather approach the gods with clarity and cleanliness.

Plan was, and is, to have a feast in honor of the goddess Brigid/Brigantia and our ancestors; we have some nice steaks to grill, probably will make some roasted root vegetables, and I was planning on baking some oatcake biscuits. Offer some of it to the gods and ancestors, and pour out some mead or wine for them. Cleanse and bless our stock of candles, cleanse our altar and literally clean our house.

February 2nd is my birthday, so it has dual meaning for me :)

Birthday aside, I had a doctor's appointment for blood work in the morning, and then I went to the Starbucks across the street and did my shadow work: mostly reflecting on my professional self (teacher). Sat there for 90-120 minutes just listening to Spotify's Deep Focus channel and damn. That helped clear out some major roadblocks I had set up mentally, and finally could let go. It also helped that it was sunny that day and I truly felt the energy coming from Spring.

I had also planned to clean the apartment... but yeah, that didn't happen. Lastly, February 3, I celebrated my birthday with going out for drinks and fun all night, and really enjoyed myself. One of the best birthday weekends so far!
