2020's G3 Meditation is set for UAN
« on: December 09, 2020, 12:37:16 am »
I'm happy to announce that the Great Global Group Meditation will once again be happening during Up All Night! This is a non-denominational guided meditation session of approx. 30 minutes that's open to all Cauldronites, and has the very cool aspect of bringing folks from all over the globe together for a simultaneous meditation on the solstice.

And since we've all been living on Zoom for months now, I figure joining in should be a snap for everybody!

More details to follow, but this will occur during the night that straddles December 20 & 21 at...
1 AM GMT
8 PM EST
5 PM PST

Prepare to have your mind expanded!
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

Yay 1AM I can do this!   ;D

You're why I moved it back an hour from last year! I wanted to make it as likely as possible that you guys in the UK could participate, while still having the meditation occur after sunset for North American west coasters (it will be right after sunset, but still after sunset)

And everybody, please note...

ONLY 1 WEEK TO GO BEFORE UP ALL NIGHT!

(And if you don't know what UAN is all about, you can find out here)

Prepare to have your mind expanded!

So here are some details on how this will work:

A half hour before the Great Global Group Meditation start time (listed above), I'll post the Zoom link in the dedicated Up All Night thread here at The Cauldron. That thread can fill up pretty quickly with everyone's wonderful back-and-forth, which might make the link hard to find...so if you plan to attend the G3, you can also let me know here in this thread, and I'll make sure to PM you with the Zoom link even earlier.

It's not required that you let me know beforehand; you can just show up using the link in the UAN thread, as long as you're a Cauldron member. But it may be more convenient for you to receive a PM notification, in which case, give a shout here. It's up to you!

1. The event will start promptly at the time listed above

2. You can use Zoom with or without video; turn off the camera function in the lower left corner of your screen if you have privacy concerns (or just look like crap after staying up so long!), but I encourage folks to show their faces, so that we can have a better sense of community

3. We'll begin with a BRIEF round of introductions, where each participant should tell us THREE and ONLY THREE things:

--A name (this could be your real name, your Cauldron handle, or something you made up on the spot...it's completely up to you)
--Where in the world you are (as specific or vague as you would like)
--ONE WORD that describes your solstice so far or how you're feeling at that moment

That's it! I can't stress enough how we need to keep intros brief, because the longer we take with intros, the less time we have for the meditation. As the Zoom host, I will gently and lovingly mute anyone who fails to keep to these rules.

4. Except during your intro, please keep yourself muted throughout the meditation session, so we can avoid inadvertent background sound distractions.

5. I'll turn things over to our meditation leader, Shashirekha, and let her send us into a globally simultaneous altered state of consciousness...

See you at Up All Night starting Sunday evening!

^ I love that!

I'll be there, and (barring any technophobe fails) I'll keep to the rules   :D

IDK, that's a lot to remember.  I might need to write it on cue cards.   ;D

Going to do my best to make it this year. Yay for meditation!

Aww, I so wish I could come to this, but with work being incredibly full-on right now, I can’t do the late night. But it sounds wonderful and I hope to come next year.

Its to much for me to do all night I shall be weary I'm sure of that much we'll see.

Whoops, I was unclear with the part I quoted - I meant I won’t manage to be awake long enough specifically for the meditation, which I’m keen to get to one of these years. I love the idea of Cauldronites meditating together across the globe and time zones. But I’ll be around for at least the beginning of UAN.

So here are some details on how this will work:...

I'll be there. I've even set an alarm to remind me half an hour before time so I can get my laptop set up.
I love a good metallurgical take on the phrase "What the F---?"

That's a good idea, especially if I am about to put a film on.
