New interview with Ronald Hutton
« on: June 14, 2017, 05:18:28 am »
I really wasn't sure where to put this - a very interesting interview with Prof. Hutton in Pagan Dawn. I've heard him touch on some of this verbally but not before in print.

I find the comment "I wish that Pagans did usually impose their own narratives on ancient places, and indeed on the past, either by actual research or by genuinely visionary experience. Too often, their understanding is based on now-outdated academic ideas which were dominant until the 1970s and based ultimately on the work of Victorian and Edwardian scholars. The internet reinforces this by recycling outdated ideas through websites constructed by enthusiastic amateurs." particularly interesting.

He touches on this a little bit in Triumph of the Moon, but of course, there has been quite a bit of changes since the book was written. I wish more Pagans would read Ronald Hutton, even if they don't agree. Can't wait for his new book!

Me too.  I think it'd be fun to read Triumph right before the new one.

Great article, btw.
