Re-release of the Athanassakis Translation of the Orphic Hymns
« on: February 22, 2013, 04:16:08 pm »
If you're like me and couldn't afford $100-300 for the Athanassakis translation of the Orphic Hymns from the 70s-80s, it looks like they'll be re-releasing it this June at a MUCH more affordable price.

Since I was fixing it anyway, I made it a Cauldron affiliate link*, and prettied it up.

Thanks for the link, very interesting!

I wanted to add that the amazon links don't work on Tapatalk, just for future reference.

Hmm... does the link as found in SeaShine's post in the quote (SeaShine apparently did the fix - all that was needed was the closing square bracket - while replying) work on Tapatalk?

If so, what I'd recommend is that people use the Amazon-affiliate linking (so that TC can benefit from things ordered through such links), but instead of the "prettying up" of putting the title in between the codebits, leave it as raw URL.  Tapatalk users would still need to do the tap-twice-to-reply-with-quote thing, even if they're not actually replying, to get the URL, but at least they'd be able to access a working link.  (Or is there still some hurdle that Tapatalk presents for this?)

We would have to test it out, but that should work. The full link works just fine on Tapatalk.

For testing purposes, the above Orphic Hymns link done as an Amazon affiliate link, but using the full URL (which may not require the tap-twice I mentioned, come to think of it; copypaste might work too):

http://www.amazon.com/Orphic-Hymns-Apostolos-N-Athanassakis/dp/1421408821/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1361567174&sr=1-1&keywords=orphic+hymns

When I use the 'quote' option, I can quite easily cut the link from the post and paste it into the browser of my phone. It's not ideal, but it most certainly works :-) Thank you!
