Athena, Aphrodite and Dionysus
« on: August 23, 2011, 05:48:25 pm »
I am wondering if anyone is able to point me in the direction of any articles, websites, books etc that can help me learn more about these three Gods?

Whilst researching the Greek gods I have been particularly drawn to these three and have also had a number of signs that these are the three on who I should be focusing my attention (for the time being at least). I believe it is important to gain as much information as I can about them and do have www.theoi.com bookmarked. I have also read The Theogony of Hesiod and Works and Days, and am working my way through Greek Religion by Walter Burkert.

If anyone could point me in the direction of anything that may be of use/interest I would be very grateful

I can help mostly with Dionysos.

http://www.wildivine.org/dionysos.htm

http://www.thehouseofvines.com/index.htm

http://eternalbacchus.wordpress.com/

The above are owned and run by Sannion, his bio is below

And in general, there's also this that might help.

There's a great article on Aphrodite from a Hellenic Recon perspective in Devoted To You edited by Judy Harrow.
I am the Goddess of Who I can Become. I mix the magic of the sorceress with the blade of a warrior. I walk the liminal pathways to see the face of the Goddess, both terrible and kind. As She stares back at me, I tremble in awe and ecstasy.  --SatAset

The books I like the best are:

The Gods of Greece and Rome by Talfourd Ely
The Gods of the Greeks by Carl Kerenyi

As another follower of Aphrodite and Dionysus, I can say these books have god sections on those gods.
