That's the way to do it (and what I've been doing, too)--why wait for the equinox to get started?

I've been doing this as well, since I really have to do daily PT and walking anyway.

The good news is that one of my sub-goals has been accomplished.  I've replaced the walker with a cane this week.  Hooray for baby steps!

I want to lose 15 pounds. I've been on a weight loss journey for a year now (March 19 is my one year anniversary) and know from experience that this *should* be a modest and attainable goal.

I'm excited to join you guys!

Anyway, T-minus 5 days until our official kickoff, folks. Get ready!

I'm kicking off tonight. Nothing like two consecutive days of flame keeping to get me into the right mindspace for doing what's good for me. :)

I'm curious, how big is your kitty that it gets you so tired?

It's not that he's particularly heavy (I think the last vet check-up had him at or just under 10 lbs.), it's that I am just that weak in my muscle strength, because after awhile my arms just hurt holding him. :D:

It's been a while since we've done this, and with the punishing winter in the East of North America keeping many of us indoors and inactive, as spring finally arrives I thought now might be a good time to see who wants to commit to a healthy challenge for Spring 2015.

I guess I'm in. (I'll try to keep my enthusiasm from bubbling all over the thread.:whis:)

By the June solstice, I want to be doing at least a half hour of yardwork every weekday that is not wet/soggy. I only managed Monday this week- my thighs protested my squatting more than I anticipated, and today it's rained- but I'm aiming for at least twice next week.

Hooray for getting it done! Nice job, Aisling. On to the next sub-goal.

I pulled on an old pair of jeans by mistake this morning...and they fit. So progress here, too.

Today's our start date, people! (Although some of us jumped the gun, myself included; it's all good, as long as it's in the service of our respective goals)

At last count, there were 17 of us embarking on this quest: me, Aster, Rocquelaire, Amphibian, Darkhawk, Jabberwocky, Missgraceless, Ian288, Naomi J, MadZealot, Demeter Delusion, Chatelaine, Aisling, Mivi, Nyktipolos, two queens (Queen of Wands and Queen of Swords), and a wildly enthusiastic Juni. (If I missed anyone, my apologies, and chime in)

I'd wish us all the best of luck, but it's really about discipline and determination, and keeping in mind how great we'll feel about this and ourselves if we hit our targets come the solstice. So instead I'll wish us all the best of health...

...and remember to keep us updated on your progress!

(Even if you stumble; in fact, especially if you stumble, so we can collectively help you get back on your feet and back on track)

Haha, speaking of staying on our feet,  it seems I have discovered that jumping straight into workouts after months of inactivity isn't exactly the easiest thing to do. Totally underestimated how sore I'd be after my first workout. But hey, at least I've gotten started! :D

Best of luck to everyone!! <3

Good luck everyone!

This past week hasn't been toooo great. I had a lot of stuff going on, so I wasn't able to do the Superhero missions on Monday OR Friday like I wanted.

I did manage to boost my "jogs" from Zombie Run from 15min last weekend (Sat and Sun) to 30min both days this weekend. Took a break after those then did full missions on the Superhero app. It was pretty rough on Sat, but the jogging went by a lot easier today.

I suspected as much, so I started with just 2 Sun Salutations a side, although I was itching to do more. I'm now up to 4 Sun Salutations and 2 Moon Salutations a side. Total logged time: 80 minutes.

Oh, just wait; I find the *real* soreness kicks in on the second day after the workout. Take comfort in the fact that the soreness means you actually accomplished something positive, and know that as your body gets used to the exercise, the soreness won't be as extreme.

(And then you'll actually miss the soreness, because it signals that you've worked your muscles in new and interesting ways, making them stronger.)

I managed my goal of twice for this week, on Monday and Tuesday. (Seven lawn bags of leaves!) I'd like to do another two days next week, maybe three, depending on how much of the forecasted rain we actually get. I'm also adding that if I can't do whatever number of days I'd planned because of wet weather (and not because of pain) I'm going to do a half hour on the recumbent bike instead.

I am enjoying seeing the results of my effort so quickly, but augh, I hate sweating.
