How are you going to be celebrating Samhain for those who follow a Gaelic Path & Calan Gaeaf for those who follow a Welsh path.

I already had my coven Samhain Sabbat Friday. We're a Traditional Wiccan one, but Irish deities&trads are important to us as we're an Irish coven, so there were a few words for Mór-Ríoghain and Donn, and we acknowledged our loved ones who have passed.

I was going to take a wee drive out to the Hill of Tara today where the Samhain hill-fires were lit, but decided to save the fuel money as my wife and I's Handfasting anniversary is Tuesday. It's just typical Halloween stuff now. We might check out the fireworks display in Belfast tonight, and see if there's any trick or treaters Monday evening. I'll light Monday's fire with an ember from tonight's, set out a dumb supper before retiring, and have my own rite I'll be performing to thank An Daghdha&An Mhór-Ríoghain for everything I asked of them this passed year.

I plan on having a small fire in my back yard, since I live in the country. I'm going to leave food out for my ancestors and spirits alike. I have a devotional planed to the deities. And just spend time with my family.

We've got two schoolage children, so I"m going to make a good homecooked meal: homemade aplesauce, pumpkin pie, bread, and beef stew. then trick or treating with a few games after, blind man's bluff and bobbing for apples. I've got a little altar honoring our dead family members, those we knew personally because with two big families that would be a lot for the kids, and I'm going to leave a serving of food on the table with a place set for our dead family. We live in housing where there are lots of strays and the dog doesn't take kindly to other animals in his yard and the food would have to be right outside his back door. I'm also going to just have fun with my family.

Also, a little solitary time to honor the Gods I called on for help in my cermony  with some camdle lighting and a needle or nail in my pocket (and that of the kids) when we're out during the night. (What I wouldn't give for a few sprigs of Rowan.)

I'm just going to enjoy the night, part of me feels like that's ceremony enough, being surrounded by family and friends and having a good time. That's what I feel like Samhain was really about, back then. A celebration that now all their hard harvest work is done and one last party before they settle own for witnter. Some spooky stories and superstitions told around a fire, and an homage to the gods for some good luck and thanks before the night is through.

Wow, did I ramble or did I ramble?
