If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Ah, thanks. I like your name, it sounds like something Hades would suggest. Kahlan(kaylin is how it is pronounced) keeps popping up in my mind as does MoonlightOwl(though as I've said someone whom I know-not personally- has the name, though she did say I could use it (though she's got the name on utube so not sure what I'd do regarding that my utube names bella10riddle btw)).

What animals represent Hades? maybe mMoonlight Lynx? hmm...
How do you pray to him? do you bang your hand on the ground (I read that youthe Greeks did that when preying).

Do the two users on here worship hhim too (the ones you mentioned?).

Kahlan is very, very nice. I like that very much indeed!

Any black animal can be used for Hades (incidentally, Hades is what I have named my black kitten :whis: ). I don't exactly pray-I talk to Him. I find that He always has time to have even a short conversation with me. It's one of the many things that I love about Him. He is never too busy to talk with me.

Mel and Randall are 2 of the Hellenics on here. Hellenics follow the ancient Greek Gods. (Asatru follow the Nordic, Kemetic follow the Egyptian etc) There are also a lot of polytheists on here who follow Gods from different pantheons (like me).

I tried finding a Hades/Persephone statue but haven't had any luck.

I was looking at Sacred Source for something the other day, and they now have a Hades and Persephone plaque (not statue, but still.)

You know, I read that so wrong- I thought for a minute it said plague, not plaque. Doh! :hdsk:

:). I will get someone to describe it to me. I'm not really sure what to do re setting up my altar, as I've said, its basic at the moment (haven't got any candle holders even(:) and have been listening to utube videos, but they usually show you what they have, they don't usually tell you what they have(not in great detail anyway). Ugh, MoonlightOwl keeps coming to me for some reason and if I use it (which the person said I could)I'm just not sure what to do re my utube name (bella10riddle)as I want to post my spiritual vids on there and if I say "hi its MoonlightOwl" people might be like "huh?"

I want something dark-sounding.

Hmm, I like the idea of "talking" rather than praying (will do that when I'm more experienced) to Hades. Like I've said, I see him as a friend/lover, and a comforting presence. I talk to him if there are arguments going around near me and instead of talking directly to the person if they can't be reasoned with, I speak to Hades and tell him what I would have said.

Is it possible to make your own Gods? cause I have a Hades-like figure in my novel named Salvorhir (hir being lord) and I sometimes can't tell if it is Hades or Salvor whom I'm speaking to.

I am considering becoming a vegitarion. I know alot of (from what I've noticed) Pagans are, and meat is making me sick lately and I want to be environmentally friendly.

I am looking for names that also mean "unseen" as that's what Hades' name means and I think that's interesting as I can't see (except for sunlight/light, colour and shadow).

I did think MoonlightShadow, MoonlightWillo, MoonlightMelody/Melanie, Melinoe... Hmm. Kahlan....

Oh I did think: daughter of Hades or the Bone Woman. If you've read Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind, you'd know there is a woman named Adie.
Here is the link to Adie's profile:

http://sot.wikia.com/wiki/Adie

I also thought of Shota (I love that name) also from Sword of Truth. Shota SilverWolf? Hmm.

Her link would also be available.

Shota De Agadan also from SoT
Tamir (with the two dots above the I) I (two dots) Ariani Gheralain from the tamir triad
the bone woman
dolphindrop
dolphinwave

What animals are the symbol of Hades? or any other symbols--I like MoonLightOwl but someones already got that. I also like Eilan and Deirdra...

To me he sort of does, its more the fact that we worship/follow him, but I feel the name is important.

I'm also sorry to dive into this topic (I can't find the Hellestic/Greek recronstructionest topics on here--I'm new) but Hades is really calling to me. Well I worship the Olympians but he's whispering to me if that makes sence.

I thought I'd give a bit of background information about myself before I ask a few questions:

My name is Dejsha, pronounced like Dejah Vu (without the Vu) though people call me Ari/Ariana.

I'm 21 years old, live in Australia and I'm blind/visually impaired (I have a talking program called Jaws which reads to me what is on my computer screne) and I've been studying religion on/off for about 5 or so years. I'm not Christian, though I believe in God and the reason for this is the Christians in my opinion talk about "hell and sin" all the time and I don't like it how they try to convert me to Christianity.

Last year on December 6 I turned 21 and onDec 8my Mum's Mum my Nan Pam died (I was there) and on Dec 11my Dad's Mum Nan Hazel died (they both died from cancer). I think that's when Hades really started calling to me. I was depressed for a while and I'm still upset of course, but he's like a comforting presence in my mind and life.

I have been doing research on how to worship him and could only find sacrificing animals to him andd banging my hand (palm or fist and how mamny times?) on the ground.

Being blind, I won't be able to light candles to him (it'd be dangerous for me to do the candlle thing though a friend said if you do magic, fire can be represented by an unlight candle).

I also would like to worship Persephone, she's not calling me as strongly as Hades, but she's there. She's like my unconcious and he's my concious if that makes sence.

How can I worship Hades?

I know this sounds crazy, but when I think of him, I get this desire, like sexual desire. I've been with one guy and that's it, so I'm not that experienced but he (Hades) is just a really big desire, he's like a lover to me more than anything else.

I think I'm psychic, not sure if this is important or not. I think I've been more psychic ever since both my Nans died last year...

What are the symbols, colours (black?), stones/elements etc of Hades?

Does anyone know of any good websites or audiobooks on him and Persephone?

I welcom as much info/ sources as possible.

Thanks and if anyone knows where I can post this in my own thread, I'll do that too.

Ari

Sorry, just joined this forum after reading this thread from a search on Google. Was wondering if you have made progress with Hades since these posts?

The easiest way to honour an underworld god is with khoe libations, meaning a drink offering where the entire cup of liquid is poured into the ground, rather than a sponde to the heavenly gods, which a person also drinks some. All offerings should be buried, as burnt offerings are only given to heavenly gods. When pouring out a libation, you could say "For Hades" or a more elaborate hymn.

Is anyone working with Hades as a patron god? I have alot of questions

I was reading this thread as I was looking up information on Hades as a patron god. He has made himself quite known to me and I, too, got a somewhat sexual vibe from him.

I don't want to anger Persephone! The last thing I need or want is a Goddess coming after me. I did tell him that I was a "fan" of his wife lol. He laughed.

How do I know if Hades is my patron God? I have a connection with him that I haven't had with another God before.

I've never interacted with Hades, but I just wanted to say that this isn't crazy at all. It's pretty common, actually. In some practices people will "marry" a deity which has chosen them and set aside one or more nights a week which dedicated to the deity, to demonstrate the significance of the connection.

I think that I am also pyrophobic. I have a huge! fear of the oven. Being blind, I think it is easier for me to get burnt (I burnt myself on my chest and stomach with just a cup of tea before, so yeah, I've always been scared of burns/fire/the oven).

I don't think I've heard of the other dieties except of course Persephone.

I tried finding a Hades/Persephone statue but haven't had any luck.

Do you know of any resources (preferably websites/audiobooks) that would help me or any utube users who specificlly talk about Hades/Persephone?

Do you have a magical name? I know some people do/don't, so I was just curious. I was thinking of Daughter of Hades, something to do with Nightshade, I did think of MoonlightOwl (though one of my friends on utube has that name), Kahlan (kaylin is how it is pronounced--its frm the Sword of Truth book series by Terry Goodkind)--those sort of names. I was thinking of QueenOfCerial (for Demeter, she's another Goddess who is calling to me, though in the name of Thermasia) or Kora/Cora (a name I made up is Cora Onyveth Thermasia for any possible children--sorry I love names)...

I want to start off with the basic things first. I just moved into my own unit by myself, and have to get my altar (it was really basic) unpacked: a cloth (like a face washer), 2 red candles (no candle holder) and a large circle hot chocolate candle in a clear glass jar and of course water--I had a small container of salt (not sure what else to use for earth/air--no feathers around her that I can find)but can't find it...(:

I don't know if I'm going about this the right way or not and I'm sorry for clogging someone else's thread with the questions (sorry about those too) but I know Hades can be impatient.

In my mind, I talk to him/Persephone(she's more for woman things though)and like I said I see him as a lover and he comforts me when I'm upset. I learnt by talking to him and I think it is Hades now that I think about it to instead of creating a bigger argument with someone who started it, I uslually tel Hades what I woud have liked to have said to that person. It has heleped me learn control :).

I've discovered that Hades is deffinately my Patron. So, what do I do to pray to him etc? I read that you bang your hand (palm/fist, how many times?) on the ground to get his attention? do Pagans say Amen at the end of their prayers? I also wondered if you know of any resources for Hades worship etc?

I'm resurrecting this thread because I am now wondering the same thing. I've been working with Persephone for some years, and recently have been wanting to incorporate Hades more into my stuff as well. While contemplating this over the last few weeks I've had a few little "signs," and also gotten the same sexual vibe others are describing, and then this morning I'm kind of reeling from this dream I had where my real-life partner turned into Hades while we were in bed. So I'm considering the possibilities.

-He's approaching me in some kind of sexual capacity. This...worries me, because I'm also "a fan of his wife" and don't want to lose that relationship or to get turned into a mint plant, or whatever the real-life equivalent of that would be.

-It's just a dream with no deeper meaning.

-It's a message about how I'm supposed to interpret the relationship between him and Persephone. I'm kind of leaning this way, actually. Especially since he took the form of my boyfriend. Here's the logic: I hesitated for years to develop a relationship with Hades in part because of the way he's portrayed in a lot of the sources and the way their relationship is portrayed. There's actually a big parallel to my own relationship, I think, because there is a persistent rumor in one social circle that he has coerced me in some way, but he has not. I wonder if I'm supposed to take away the message that their relationship is not as troubling in the power-dynamic department as we've been told. This may be hubris, but I'm not sure if it's more or less hubris than thinking he's hitting on me. :o

Please note, I am not and never have been a recon, so I'm not working from that perspective (and I almost typoed that word as "Persephone," oddly).

I don't work with Hades, but I feel I should add that it is not unheard for a devotee of the same sex of their deity (or, not sexually compatible with their deity) to be approached in this fashion from a deity of the opposite sex (or otherwise 'compatible') closely connected to their patron. It seems like it might be a way They use to bring us closer to certain energies.

I don't find your line of thinking hubristic in either case, but if you have a pre-existing relationship with Persephone, asking Her about interpretative clues and testing Her sensibilities over the subject might be useful.Just my 0.2;)

Thank you for the advice. Interestingly, the day after I made the post (including its mint plant joke), I found scads of mint growing wild in front of my door. Figured it was a message, so I picked some of it, brewed some tea, offered half of it to Persephone and drank the other half, and did a meditation. Long story short, it does have a lot to do with lessons I'm supposed to be learning in my romantic relationship, and it does have a lot to do with getting to know Hades better and incorporating him more into my practice, and I think all will be well as long as I remember to do these things. I do think the sexual frisson is real on both sides, but between my pre-existing relationship with his wife and my commitment to be monogamous with my partner, the god-as-lover thing is not happening and I'm just going to approach him as a worshipper, and it seems like that's going to be OK with everyone. Thanks again for weighing in.
