So that's who's in my life right now. Let me hear who's in yours!

Currently my beloved and I have been working with the three faces of the Morrighan who are flitting through our lives making for some interesting times as we work towards moving in together.

Nemain: The Dark Maiden has been encouraging me as I am working to learn to be more self-assured and seeking just what I wish to do with my life.

Macha: The Mother face is always present and teaching us the meaning of being true to the one we love and belong together with no matter the circumstances. And we have had some really big upheavals lately.

Badb: It seems that my gift of the Sight is growing stronger and I continue to dream of standing by Her cauldron and learning more of how to ethically use that gift. I have also dreamed about the Tarot gaining a better understanding of it.

It is really all very complicated when combined with the general stuff that is part of a life in transition.

Do you see the Morrigan as fitting into the neo-wiccan maiden-mother-crone archetype?

So here I'm asking a fairly straightforward question: who's in your spiritual life right now? What gods, spirits, buddhas and boddhisattvas are you honoring/worshiping/working with or being thwapped by at this time? I've seen browsing through the board that there was a thread like this, and it looked really cool. I loved reading it, and I think it'd be great if there were another. So here goes my roll call:

Sarasvati: the most important first. :D: I worship the Buddhist face of Sarasvati; she seems to identify especially heavily with the Japanese Benzaiten. In fact, this is how I came to her. I'm beginning to believe strongly that the goddess I am interacting with is in fact primarily Benzaiten, as the characters originally used to write her name seem more like a title; they literally meant "Goddess of Eloquent Speech." She comes across in a very Japanese fashion to me nowadays, but she still answers primarily to Sarasvati. My UPG is that to Her, Benzaiten is a job title, and Sarasvati is still Her personal name, as it were. Still, that's all UPG, so get a big saltshaker!

Sarasvati Benzaiten is my patroness and guardian deity. She's made it clear to me that She's always present within me, and She often makes Herself known as a tingling pressure against my solar plexus, or (somewhat less often, but far more memorable) a wave of absolute calm. Rarest of all, when I am feeling alone and lost, if I mentally call on Her, reciting Her name over and over, I feel this overwhelming sense of just...love. That I am not only loved unconditionally, but that my love in return is worthy. The couple of times it's happened have been by far the most sublime experiences in my life.

Loki: The second is second. ;) Loki is the only other deity who is a regular part of my life. He came around after I essentially put my foot in my mouth and a target on my back. I was working with runes and posted a comment here that I didn't work with the Norse Pantheon, and they didn't have any interest in me. That night, I was doing a reading, and it quickly became apparent that someone was messing with me, as the answers were not only strangely concrete, but also happened to be incredibly bad advice! He eventually communicated (demanded, rather) that HE was in charge of my rune readings. Since Sarasvati seemed to think it was a good idea, I went along with it. And...He actually does give good advice. In fact, when I'm working with the runes, I can count on Him to be perfectly frank with me, and not hold anything back.

However, when I'm not reading runes, His presence is a good deal less...helpful. He steals stuff, hides things, makes trouble, pulls pranks. The lot. He scared the shit out of my BFF by turning the radio on randomly. She was sitting with her back to it, and all of a sudden NPR came on, and there was the sound of a man's voice. She jumped like 3 feet up in the air, because she thought she was about to be strangled or something. Now, the radio was a very old digital Bose that has plenty of glitches, and actually does have a habit of coming on by itself occasionally. However, I knew right away that it was Him. Turns out he likes my BFF...a lot. He was just having some fun with her.

The Virgin of Guadalupe: I can't classify her as a straight-up goddess, since I came to her through Catholicism. My parish is predominantly Latino, and the Virgin of Guadalupe was the most common form of the Madonna I saw as a child. In fact, it still is! I also happen to think she's the most beautiful of all the Virgin images, and she has always appealed to me in a way that none of the others (such as Fatima, Lourdes, etc.) have. It was more than simply the familiarity and aesthetic appeal of her image; it was the deep resonance that her story had with me. I still find the story of Guadalupe far more meaningful than that of Lourdes and Fatima. I find it even more so now that I understand just how much resistance the white, European clergy put up to recognizing the accounts of both the impoverished indigenous man who first saw her, and those of other indigenous and mixed-race individuals who felt called by her.

I marked off her feast day on my calendar, and I plan to celebrate it. However, I don't regularly honor her. We have more of a friendly working relationship, like I am someone else's student and I'm coming to her for help with my teacher's projects. I keep novenas around with her image on them, and I have a statue of her, but I don't pray to her for myself. I no longer feel a need to. However, she is the one I go to when others need help. I feel like she's that really understanding family friend - older than you, and someone you don't hang out with yourself. You don't have to actually send her birthday gifts or call her on Christmas, but she's still there when you need a favor, because she knew you when you were a baby.

So that's who's in my life right now. Let me hear who's in yours!

Mama Quilla

She's been there far longer than I've been acknowledging her but I'm grateful for her being here for me. It gets hard sometimes because so much of my practice with her is UPG and I feel guilty, but there really isn't much information out there about her. :( At least with me she takes a more passive role.  Hands-off my be a better term. She doesn't intervene much. It's just kind of a "Go about your way but just know that good or bad I'm here."

Also, there is another entity who has been tugging at me for over a year now and I can't figure out who the hell she is. I don't know if it's another goddess or some type of spirit but it's driving me nuts. I have small clues from a ritual I did but so far nada on the name. She seems much more aggressive/assertive and not as mature? At least in personality.
I know you. If I were blind, I would know what you are.

Doing this inventory has been interesting.  Thanks for the topic!

In my life right now...

Close Relationships
Set, AKA Neb.y, Big Red, Notorious COCK - owner of me; He Who Makes Me Stronger While Pushing All My Buttons.

Sekhmet - She to Whom I Listen so I don't get Smacked.

Developing Relationships
Nut, AKA TEETH - I am trying to build something here.  Some sort of a thing.
Ma'at - I do her work, so I worship her.  Still learning.
Ganesha - relationship largely based on the fact that he helps me through doorways when I need help and I give him offerings.  He's the least in-my-FACE of the deities I worship.
Spider - It's complicated.  It involves things I am not supposed to talk about unless the person/people have the reference points.  Spider is responsible for most of my brain poetry, and also for my going "off the rails" to learn things that are superficially not connected.

Still very much in the 'developing relationship' stage with all of these, mind.  A bit of active nudging from someone I'm fairly certain is Apollo (mostly in the sense of 'hey look at this historical stuff, you're already mine, see'); he seems like an approachable enough guy, if I can devote the spoons to figuring out what works (personally).  There is also a trio of deities who haven't offered names (or, really much of anything); most of the feedback I get from Them is a sense of 'get your life stabilized a bit, get some basic practices worked out, and /then/ we can talk usefully'.
All knowledge is worth having.
It doesn't stop being magic just because you know how it works.

The God that has been in my life the longest is Set.  I feel his presence constantly.  He appears in my dreams a lot.  I consider him my patron.

I also honor Anubis.  Even before I was Pagan I have felt a connection to him.

I have been thwapped by the Celtic Goddess, Morrigan.  I am fascinated and feel a strong connection to her. Though I haven't worked or honored her yet.

For me, the Morrighan will always be front and center; She's made that abundantly clear, and that's fine by me.  I have Danyarose to help me understand and work with Her.

About a week ago, I had a dream where I walked with Athena.  So there is room for other Deities to connect with me, and for me to work with them, too.  I'm still working my way through the rather seismic changes and revelations the Morrighan has wrought in my life, so there will be time to sort that out later.

Do you see the Morrigan as fitting into the neo-wiccan maiden-mother-crone archetype?

No not exactly. I see the Morrighan as being more than the neo-wiccan archetype. She is difficult to define. She has moments of being loving and caring, but the love and care is strong and sometimes harsh. She is teaching me that I cannot be all sunshine and light that I must embrace my own shadow and reclaim it proudly. Her maiden facet can be more brutal, honest and determined to bring complete change than any of the other Goddesses I have studied. I see Her as being many things and all in one. Though I tend toward addressing only the three facets (to me She is like a giant gem with facets not aspects) I know others exist.

My strongest identification as of late is Nemain the Dark Maiden. Despite the fact that I am a mother and aging on toward cronehood, I find that I am living the strong young female ideal I missed out when I was physically that age.

Badb is a great deal important to me as well because I find that my Sight is growing by leaps and bounds. I am being called upon to help others coming into their gift for the first time which is perforce making me look deeper into my own ability. I have found Badb to be just as militant and strong in Her pursuit of a goal. She has offered me choices I never thought to make. Including the chance to see the truth about a two decade long relationship that is serving neither partner like it should. In that case She offered and I am reaching for the change with both hands and eyes wide open.

I was a peace loving new hippie woman but no longer. Now I am finding I have a voice and it sounds like a raven screaming for attention. This is not my understanding of the neo-wiccan maiden mother crone ideal.

I've actually always wanted to participate in one of these. :) Thanks for starting the thread!

So, taking a cue from Redfaery, I'll place the most important first. The first ones are;

Saule: Sun Goddess of the Baltic pantheon. She was first to show up, and remains at the center of my religious practice. Most of the other dieties I work with are connected to her. (Coincidence? I think not!)

Perkunas: Thunder God of the Baltic pantheon. He showed up several months ago, and is probably the father of one of Saule's daughters.

Menuo: Moon God of the Baltic pantheon. He also showed up relatively quickly, though I believe it was after Perkunas (hence the order I've put them in). He's Saule's husband.

Marshava: Goddess of wellbeing and blessings. She was the fourth to show up. I've yet to find a common link between her and Saule.

And the most recent are (in approximate order);

Teliavelis: Smith God. He's either the fifth or sixth, depending. He crafts a new sun daily for Saule.

Vakarine: Goddess of the dusk. She showed up around the same time as Teliavelis. She's Saule's daughter, and puts the goddess to bed at night.

Ausrine: Goddess of the dawn. She showed up within the last week. She's Saule's daughter also, and kindles the suns fire in the morning.

Patrimpas: God of Spring, lakes, and rivers. He's recent enough that I have no idea if he's Around or not... I plan to check on Friday. His connection to the Sun is that he was worshipped with Perkunas.

And... that's it for now. I suspect there's possibly one more hanging around somewhere, but thankfully I'm being given a break while I work out weekly prayers- the last ones showed up really, really fast, and I'm still catching up.

I've only recently found my patron and matron deities and I still work a lot with a large group of the Aesir and Vanir.

Currently working on improving my relationship with Odin and Freyja but I still include Thor, Tyr, Frigga and Loki a lot. I've also felt a bit closer to Fenrir after discovering that my totem animal is the Wolf so he may have a place on my altar once it has a permanent home (should be this weekend :))

I only ask because you seem to sort her aspects into those archetypes - terms like "her maiden facet " give that impression. Neo-Wicca isn't shitty or necessarily fluffy, but the maiden-mother-crone thing is pretty firmly associated with that movement.

It's something I've seen people do before with the Morrigan. It's something I disagree with personally because it seems at odds with the myths, but not everyone sees deity the same way. I like to try and get a better idea of how other people approach things.

Good topic.

The spirits I honour are sort of dividing themselves into groups.  I don't understand what's going on there, yet, but some archetypal, without-names types are hanging around, and then there are my household gods, and those I see as tutelary spirits. Also, everything is changing at the moment. It's highly confusing.

Tutelary deities
- Baoi, who is also called Cailleach Bhearra, but specifically in her form local to the Beara peninsula.
- Duibhne/Dovinia, her sister from over the bay in Dingle - mother of the Corca Duibhne tribe.

Household gods
- Brigid, my hearth goddess. Who may be Brigantia. I'm confused there at the moment. Meh.
- Manannan mac Lir, who was first to call me to the path I follow now.
- Macha, the horse goddess. Potentially not the Macha who is part of the Morrigan. I have a lot of research to do around this.

Others: various archetypal figures and spirits who I haven't really got my head around yet.

Khnum is the main god I've interacted with. He came to me, before I even knew kemeticism was, nor khnum's existence.  He appeared to me, in a dream. I see him with his green ram's head and his two sets of horns.

He's very patient with me, and like a father to me. He understands I'm brand new to all this stuff, and I'm taking baby steps.

I think I might have been contacted by Isis/Aset, but I'm not quite sure, yet.

Ma'at-as-Diety: She's recently taken a very large presence in my life, and has been a great help in encouraging Ma'at-as-concept. (Which yeah, kind of a no brainer)

Djehuty: He's taken a HUGE role in my life, filling up the spaces Geb left and becoming a central Diety for me.

Geb: His role is rather passive, and he's taken more of a silent support in where I am going, leaving space for the more active dieties.

Let's see.... for starters...

Cernunnos.
Ever since I saw Him seated on the side of the Gundestrup Cauldron, He's intrigued me.  Learning about Him makes me remember my childhood, my days as that little farm girl who never left the woods.  The one who felt more at home up a tree with a makeshift bow and arrow than inside with a Barbie doll.

Aengus Og.
He's gentle, and very patient with my being a new pagan.  He's reminding me that getting married last month was a good choice.  He keeps me believing that love does exist.  He keeps reminding me that I'm worthy of love.

Brigid.
She was there even when I was a Christian.  She's there to remind me of responsibility.  I'm a child in a lot of ways, even at age 31.  I want to learn more from Her, though I have trouble paying attention a lot of times.
