If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

I have to say, as an Apollo devotee, your attitude towards him is .. confusing.

I'm not saying you're wrong.  I don't know.  But I can say that I don't think the Apollo you're talking about/to is the same one I talk to.

The Apollo I know wants from me the fruits of my labor.  That which I DO.  And *I* do the service - he isn't my guide, my buddy, my pet or my pal.  He is the god, I am the human.  It's a close relationship, but the power is VERY much not on my side.

A spirit guide would be much more a relationship of closer to equal, as I usually
understand it.

Apollo is the power of civilization, of medicine as plague and cure, of the best and worst of humans living together.  Of order and power and control.  Of exaltation in song and dance, of understanding greater than we are, of science and learning and growth.  Of the power of the group and shared inspiration.

Give your labor.  Give of your strength and power.  Give what you give best to society, and build up those around you as you are in turn built up.  Create more.  Grow.

Give of yourself.  Without that the rest means nothing.

he told me he was . I still love him and want to work with him even if hes not. I Have feelings for him and i never understood why.  I had experiences with him in the past but they where strong and i dont think anyone would believe me. I was in alot of trouble when it happened.

In my opinion, you're not being rude.  But . . .

You sound like, more than anything else, you have a crush on Apollo.  (You tagged this post 'cute' anyway . . . . )  The way you talk about Him sounds (to me, of course, and perhaps only to me) like someone trying to get a boy they like to notice them.  Maybe a good first step towards developing closer ties with Him would be to calm down a little?

Otherwise, I think the rest of the advice that's been given is good advice: give Him some of the offerings He likes; work towards being the best you can be as a mark of devotion to Him.

i do have a big crush on him , i dont know why i just cant help it , even if he wasint a god i would be in love with him. I dont care what hes like or what he looks like.I mean this too.. I try not to tell many people because they wont think im serious or they will think im nuts or stupid for loving a god in this way. I had this feeling for him ever he told me he was my guide and i started to read about him. I am planing on getting him a laurel  bay leaf tree  , i know he likes bay leaves and i think getting him one would be a nice gift. I know its a bad idea to post this here but i feel like i love apollo and i want to make him happy and give him as much as possible.

As far as I know, there's nothing wrong with loving Apollo.

But, look.  Let me tell you a story.  When I was in middle school, there was a boy I was head over heels in love with.  I thought about him constantly, I saved pieces of paper specifically because he'd touched them . . . that kind of thing.  Any mention of him would have me flailing around with excitement about how cute and wonderful and fantastic in every possible way he was.

It wasn't until I looked back on it later that I realized that, if anything, I probably drove him away with that behavior, because I spent so much time fawning over him that I never bothered to actually . . . talk to him.  To appreciate him as a real human being.

I don't think you're nuts or stupid for loving a god; it's certainly not something you're alone in.  But . . . either He'll reciprocate or He won't, you know?

Give of yourself.  Without that the rest means nothing.

That is, essentially, how it is.

But for you, Elvengoddess, I'd suggest starting with simpler offerings at first, rather than promising to "give him as much as possible". This would be a good time to learn more about the god you want to follow... perhaps, for example, you'd understand better, why people here object to your characterizing Apollon as "cute".

Also, you mentioned that you've found out about you "spirit guide" via pendulum divination. Have you explored a possibility that perhaps it was not Apollon communicating with you, but rather some other spirit?

This is a point to consider.

And I don't think you try to be rude, Elvengoddess, but I think you are confusing terms and that in turn confuses the people reading here.

Neither is it a unheard thing here to love a god, don't worry.

I have apollo as my spirit guide and i love him to death. I think of him constantly .   I make him food every night and sometimes get him some pretty gemstones.  I really want to know what would be a better offering , i still want to make him food every night but i want to know what he likes . I usually give him a plate of food  and sometimes something to drink with it . What offering do you give him if you do ? i want to know what he likes . :)

Well, everyone has given really good suggestions thus far.  You can't go wrong with traditional Hellenic offerings.

Things I like to do:

I almost always offer incense along with reciting a hymn: the Orphic and Homeric ones are good.

Athanassakis translation of the Orphic hymns(my preference):   http://www.winterscapes.com/orphichymns.doc

Also: http://www.theoi.com/Olympios/Apollon.html#Hymns

And: http://www.templeapollo.com/prayers.html

*If you struggle with writing, you can supplement your hymns with poems others have written about him.

A couple of nice ones:

Poem 1

Poem 2

(Although an offering created by you with the best intentions would be the most appreciated, in my opinion. Even if you aren't a "great" writer.)

*You can make drawings or sculpture, learn to play an instrument.

* If you haven't already, I recommend reading up on his myths and learning some of his functions and epithets.

A good place to start:

Link1

link2

link3

Then move up to the already mentioned: link4

*Another thing I've taken up recently is making origami animals and burning them as offerings.

I just did a bull for Poseidon and a for Apollo.   It seems Poseidon was pleased, I couldn't really tell with Apollo.  But it might be worth a try - it certainly requires a significant amount of concentration and effort, depending on what you pick.    You can also just use regular printer paper, just square it off (it shows how in the swan video.)

Note - if you choose to burn your pieces indoors, make sure you use a big, fire safe container, and don't use an alter cloth or have any other flammable materials within close proximity.  A brass bowl works well.   I recommend filling it up with sand to protect against the heat.   I also hold my pieces with long corn tongs, light them then drop them in the bowl.

(Oh, and I suggest the swan over the bull if you're new to origami.  The bull is quite difficult, the swan is pretty good for a beginner.)

Good luck!

I like that idea a lot!
Esp. since I do a lot of candle magic - the paper burn variety - this can be wonderfully combined.

Have you fully thought that last bit through? Really? You don't care what he's like?

Firstly, I think that's a fairly offensive statement to make about someone you claim to care about - I'd certainly kick my boyfriend out of the house if that's how he felt. If you want a relationship with *me* then you'd better care about *me*. Otherwise, I'm just a placeholder for some fantasy you cooked up in your mind.

Secondly, do you recognize how *dangerous* a statement that is? Gods aren't cute kittens you can play with, nor are they completely benevolent. Read what Shadow wrote about him, learn more about him. While Apollo has lovely sides, he's also the bringer of plagues, and has destroyed the children of Niobe because she pissed off his mother. If you're going to be in any kind of relationship with him, then you'll have to deal with THAT side of him as well, not just the pretty music and poems.

Honestly, I have no particular interest in what relationship you do or do not have with Apollo. But for your own sake and out of respect to the deity you claim to love, I'd suggest you start caring what he's like.

I somehow missed that.
Elvengoddess, please, if you are going to promise a god - or anyone, really - to give him as much as possible, learn beforehand what this being is like and what can you expect from him. For your own safety, I hope that the god you are claiming to worship doesn't take your words too seriously at this moment.

Manna incense (crushed Frankincense) comes to mind, diluted wine libations, anything that reminds you of the sun... You'll probably be able to find many hints in that.

Interesting, that's the first time I've heard of frankincense referred to as manna.

On the theoi site, they think it's a type of ash: http://www.theoi.com/Flora1.html

(That is, if thinking of the right manna - that which is prescribed in some Orphic hymns.)

Oh wow, I missed this too!   This is totally not cool, and is very disrespectful!

I agree with Chabas and Nachtigall, you need to modify your attitude a bit - show some reverence.   Otherwise you'll likely damage your connection and probably be ignored.

I don't know about him, but I don't think obsession really helps getting closer to anyone...
Elvengoddess, I think that above everything you should treat him with the respect that a god deserves (not saying you don't treat him with respect, but you try so hard that you are excessive in it, like a thermometer popping because of excessive heat). I'm not trying to be offensive, don't get it this way, just advising you.

I think you misunderstood what she meant when she said she don't care what he's like. But yet I agree with you about how dangerous it can be. Apollo is romantic enough, but in several ocasions he's also pretty destructive and vengeful.

P.S.: I know the example of the thermometer was awful, couldn't come with anything better lol.

That statement was an  alarm bell for me as well. Can you really to be in love with anything without even seeing its true nature? Most importantly without caring about what its true nature is like?

I don't know your experiences so I can't really judge the entirety of the situation you are living, but while relationships with gods start in all sorts of ways and there's nothing wrong in a little movie-star-like crush on your deity, per se, I would question the nature of your interest considering a few things:
1) your interest is not pulling you to consider Apollon out of the frame you decided to frame Him into, nor it apparenly pulled you to do any research outside opening a few threads there you seem to expect answers raining comfortably in your lap, regardless of the fact that if you had bothered to read any threads already in place on Apollo, many of your answers were there waiting to be at least explored. To be blunt: how much interested in Apollo can you be if you are not interested enough to research and work to know the object of your interest? While you may be genuinely interested in pleasing Apollo, you can't really to say you care about Him, much less love Him, if you don't .care about how He is

2) if your interest is pulling you more toward pleasing blindly  the entity you are dealing with than toward trying to understanding Him, I would question the nature of the entity you are dealig with. Keep in account that an entity introducing himself as Apollo will not necessarily be Apollo, especially if he behaves in a vastly different way with the nature/character of the deity/spirit he claims to be and/or induces an obsessive-ish pull that aims more to giving things than understanding things.

Again, I don't know the context of your experiences, but I think these things need to be said.

What I think of this statement is better summarized by an article I wrote on this subject some time ago:

I think it's a little odd that he is your spirit guide or patron god if you've only heard from him a couple times.
