Time Between Venerations - Godless Limbo
« on: June 08, 2012, 01:03:09 am »
So it turns out that Rhiannon was around just to teach me some important lessons, so She and I have parted ways. My question is, now what do I do? Should I just wait for whoever will be working with me next, or should I pursue them? It's not entirely how I feel, but I feel like a traveler whose guide felt they'd helped out long enough and ditched the traveler, leaving them with just a vague sense of direction. I'm not saying I can't take it from here, I'm just looking for a metaphoric signpost to point me in the right direction.

How do you know you've parted ways? Technically I'm Irish pagan and not Welsh, but in my experience the gods don't leave you so much as wait for the next phase.

Mind, their idea of waiting (as much as I can understand) is not the "hovering over you every second of every day" sense, but more the "this is all for now, I'll check up on you later" sense.
On hiatus, but might pop in now and then. Just making it official.

My blog. 40% normal, 60% spiritual, 500% details.

My advice, and I don't mean this negatively at all, is to stop relying on the Gods to guide you but to start doing it yourself. The Gods are not babysitters. They value thought on the part of their followers. Establish daily (or weekly or monthly) practice for yourself into the pantheon(s) you are comfortable with. Pray and offer to appropriate deities on Their holy days or when you need Their help. Start reaching out to all of Them and see if anything comes back. Even if it doesn't, you're fine. In general, reaching out to the Gods is done to worship Them, not to make you feel better.

I wish you luck :)

Both Sharysa and Elani T. made good points.

Even if it's hard to not miss an active divine presence in your life onnce you experienced it for  awhile, it's normal that gods appear to withdraw at times when they either a) have no peculiar work for you to do or/and b) feel they contributed all they deemed appropriate/necessary for the moment.

Rhiannon might come back and play a bigger/minor/different role in your life later on or She might not. Keep that avenue open by still honoring Her, maybe to a different degree than you did when She played a more active role in your life.

If there's other deities you feel appropriate/want to approach more than others, do it. If not, keep honoring all your gods as in accord to your tradition/path. Figure out when you want to go in the next phase and see if there's someone can help you to get there. Generally when one's patron go silent/away there's a time of your life that ended and another than needs starting.r

Most people have to pick a deity or deities and try to follow them as best they are able without any obvious feedback from the deities. So, I'd say continue to venerate Rhiannon for what she has done for you, but do not be afraid to venerate other deities that you feel strongly draw toward even if said deities seem silent in your life.
