Thanatos?

Hello all!

I'm finding more and more that the Gods and Goddesses are with me, trying to get my attention every day. But because I know so little about them, I've been missing the signs. Recently I found a photo of a death God, and the image lit something within me and made me curious as to whether or not one of them are with me.

So I stumbled upon Thanatos, but there is so little information on him. Does anyone else work with him? The idea of it really excites me (not from a creepy, goth kid kind of way -- more of a I feel like he's with me kind of way) but I'd like to know more about him if possible. Does he have any symbols -- animals, times of the year, etc? And if you do work with him, what's his personality like?

I've found him to be pitiless, without humor, and contemptuous of mortals.  My impression is that he does not, as a general rule, work 'with' humans who still have a pulse and can be very disdainful and dismissive of those who would presume to intrude into his purview.

I'm not well up on what you're interested in, but I read that Thanatos had a twin brother Hypnos which was 'sleep' and they were the sons of Dark and Night. Maybe it's his twin you might be thinking about? It's a possibility I suppose. Might end up getting into Meditation or Hypnosis etc.. Gonna go read up myself, will wait 'till it gets dark though first!

Nyx (Night) is actually my Goddess. She's been with me since the beginning and I find her gracious and loving. Seeing as how most of the stories portray her as dark and mean, I thought that perhaps there were others that had been misrepresented.

But more than that, I go where I'm called. And I feel like Thanatos is calling to me. Hypnos is nice, but not right. I think I'm going to try Thanatos. I'd like to try a ritual with him and see how it goes. Luckily I can change it if it isn't working. I just feel a pull towards him that I can't explain and I won't feel right until I at least try.

I'm glad you've decided to go for it, I was worried you were about to be put off from what you were thinking. I hadn't realised you were already acquainted. Then the very best of luck to you and I hope your ritual works as planned .
