Though my approach to the gods is (theoretically) non-realist and the author seems to be taking more of a realist approach, this is basically how I see the gods and ourselves. Every part of reality is interconnected and interdependent. I am what I am because everything else is what it is. I exist as a network of interrelationships: no one or thing is an isle unto itself. And I think this applies to all types of beings. Everything is "within" us through interconnectedness; the universe is the greater part of us.

I think that Edward Butler is one of the best assets to the Pagan/polytheist community, as he is one of the only polytheists I know of who did his doctorate work on polytheistic philosophy. I'd definitely say he's one of the leading theologians/theorists that we currently have, and his work is always worth reading.
