Met God/dess is meditation... The Morrigan and the Dagda?
« on: August 08, 2014, 01:39:29 pm »
Hey y'all. :)

So I've gone through a great period of change since I last posted. Basically everything is completely different. lol I used to work with Nyx, but felt it wasn't right, so I went through a long period where I tried to work with any god or goddess that called to me.

Since December, my entire belief system was tested. I didn't know what to believe or who to believe in. I basically gave up on being pagan. Until now! :D

I've been getting back into meditation. And I decided to meditate and find out which god or goddess wanted to work with me.

The summary is, I saw a woman in red with dark hair streaked with silver. When I asked who she was, she said the Morrigan. I thought, cool. I've been wanting to learn more about the Celtic pantheon, and I'm in love with crows and ravens, so it seemed to fit.

But she was also with a man, holding his hand. He had silver, almost white hair. He wore a white robe with a gold pendent necklace. I asked his name, but I couldn't get a handle in it. So instead, I asked some details about him. He deals with healing, the earth, and the sun. I don't really remember much about his animals... I think he said rabbit, stag, something else.. Some kind of bird.

So I did some research. The Dadga seemed to fit, but I've been struggling finding information about him. Does this seem like it could be him? I know most stories portray him as large and vulgar, whereas the man I saw was thinner and wizard like.. Is there someone else this man I saw could be?

Thanks for reading! :)

It sounds to me as if you have encountered the Morrigu and the Dagda. They are both intriguing beings. Fair warning though. She changes your life whenever She comes into it. Prepare for a hurricane if you accept Their presence in your life, but whatever is on the other side may be more than worth the trouble to get there. I refer to Her in the plural because my dealings with Her have been with all of Her aspects at one time or another. Also please remember that most of the texts we have about the Celtic Deities come from the hands of Christian monks who were tasked with salvaging the history of an entire race of people who were very fond of an oral tradition. I have found some of their writings must be taken with a grain of salt.

The appearance of both Morrighan and Dagda seems to indicate They are both interested in communicating with you. I would love to hear what more happens with you after this. Good luck and blessings.

I wonder actually wonder how long she's been with me.. Because my life has been quite a roller coaster for the last six months. My engagement ended, I moved halfway across the country, my relationships with friends have been tested, and as I said before, my spirituality was basically nonexistent. I was so confused about life and I didn't know who I was anymore. I feel like I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel now, so all is well again. :)

I'm so glad to have some validation. I've met so many in meditation before, but they've always just been spirit guides or my "inner self." I didn't know whether this was a real encounter or something I just made up or what.

I feel very blessed to have met them. :) They were both very kind, even though the Dagda was a bit more withdrawn. I haven't been working with them as much as I would like to (still picking up the pieces from my past), but I'm definitely trying. I'm wanting to start learning reiki soon, and I wonder if that's something the Dagda can help me with.

Thank you so much for your response. :) I'm incredibly excited to start working with them more now that I feel more confident it is truly them.

My interaction with the Dagda has been rather limited, but I can completely empathize with your turbulent life. I find that I am in the middle of the end of a twenty-one year marriage and starting my life over. She is not an easy friend but She will teach you a great deal about yourself and your place in the scheme of life. She is also very big on personal sovereignty and tough love.
I wish you blessings and good luck and keep us up to date.

I've been having trouble sleeping the last couple nights.. :( Two nights ago, I had nightmares galore. I kept waking up crying or shaking or scared. Then last night, I woke up repeatedly because it literally felt like someone was touching me. I do sleep in the same bed as my boyfriend, but his hands were nowhere near me when I felt like I was being touched. I got poked in the back and in the ear (IN my ear... So uncomfortable lol). I woke up pretty crabby because of my lack of sleep.

Now, nightmares are quite common for me, but I've never felt like I've been touched before last night. I read that the Morrigan will often visit your dreams and torment you in your sleep to get your attention and let you know that she has something she wants you to do.

I've never been blessed with being able to speak to the goddess in my waking life, and meditation is always iffy for me... Is there another way I might reach out to her, or her to me, so that I can figure out what she wants?

You might try what I often call "freeform writing" just sit and try to blank your mind and write whatever comes into your head. I type this way from time to time (since my handwriting went wonky after carpal tunnel surgery) and sometimes find answers that way when meditation is ineffective. The Morrigu tend to show themselves in my dreams and meditations too, but I have never been poked in the ear just had it grabbed like an old granny might do if I fail to listen. That is usually the Badb aspect trying to make me listen. She has made me feel as if I was thwapped in the back of the head before too.

My best suggestion is to get three candles red white and black and dedicate them to the Morrigu and use them in a ritual to let them know you are listening and willing to do what They ask. FAIR WARNING: Do NOT do this if you are not prepared to do as They ask as it will go badly for you later.

Blessings and Good Luck
