* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Isis Worship in Britain
« on: February 08, 2013, 07:11:43 pm »
I'm interested in this topic, but I can't find much about the worship of Isis in Britain, except that her worship was widespread throughout northern Europe as it was colonized by the Romans. Does anyone have any suggestions about primary or secondary sources I can look into?

It doesn't seem like the worship of Isis in Britain was as prominent as her worship in the rest of the Empire.  With that said, I would take a look at Robert Turcan's "Cults of the Roman Empire", the only book off the top of my head that might have info.  Possibly also Beard, North, and Price's "Religions of Rome", volumes 1 and 2.

Turcan mentions that Southern England is "rich in testimony" to the worship of Isis, mainly in London, where there was a temple to Isis in the 1st century AD, and the south-west of England.  That seems to be about as far north as her cultus went, though; no evidence so far suggests that she was worshiped up at Hadrian's Wall.

Oh!  And Turcan lists "The Oriental Cults in Roman Britain" by E. and J.R. Harris, published 1965, as a resource for the Southern England evidence.

Not in Britain, but there was a syncretic Celtic cult of "Isis Noreia" at Noricum.
