I have heard about that story for AAAAAGES, and somehow I've never seen an actual illustration until now.

:D: My favorite is the cats watching. You just know they're making that smug cat-face.

(Hahahah, he looks so maaaaaad, hahaha!)

But seriously, who wants to worship a bunch of uptight gods who can't take a joke? Not I.

What do you all think of gods from different pantheons interacting? What CAN you think of this? I've never had this happen, the only gods I've "met" are those of my Germanic ancestors and no others, but I've heard plenty of stories and it's made me curious.

Okay so i'm really new to all of this, but I couldn't resist responding to this. You see, I was fwapped by four goddesses, each from a different pantheon, all at once. They actually plotted the whole thing out and now that I look back on it I can't believe that I was so dense as to not believe at first all of the signs they were giving me. Thank goodness they are being very patient with me; i'm still trying to feel my way through all of this. I won't give you the whole unabridged tale unless you want to know. its really long and kind of convoluted.:whis:

Anyway, let's hear your input!

I've had Greek and Celtic deities come to me. I believe the Divine sends whatever image/deity I need for whatever I'm going through at that time. To me, the different deities won't clash.

I think it is totally possible. If a god from a pantheon where I have no ancestral link to contacts me, I think it can happen with other gods. They all go to the same bar after hours. ;)

As for me I've come in contact with gods from different pantheons. The ones I have the strongest link to are the Greek, amusing since I'm a Druid.

Well, in the ten commandments God said not to put any other Gods before him. My interpretation? There must be other gods all interacting with each other for the christian God to know of them, and to also refer to them as Gods must mean they are right? Of course this is reading it literally and I'm sure someone will say that he's talking about idols and, "Made up Gods," and that line I used is a bad translation or am reading it wrong :p

On the subject of "different pantheons interacting"--after realizing I'd unintentionally shut myself off from my ancestral roots, I opened up my meditation and met a Filipino deity/spirit whom I currently call Tatay ("Father" in Tagalog). I was introducing him to the Tuatha De, and things were going well until the Morrigan came up and went very directly, "Hello. She's mine." (Being that she's my patron.)

Tatay went, "That's nice, but she's also mine because she's Filipino." That wasn't too bad, but then he assured the Morrigan that she could "stay with my job/music" now that he's here. (The weirdest inversion of "Stay at home" I've experienced.) She naturally went "DON'T YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO WITH HER," at which Tatay called her "uppity."

...Yeah, they hate each other. And worse, it seems that both of them consider themselves my patrons because Tatay called me "Anak" ("baby/child," largely reserved for actual parents) the minute I met him. I haven't even made an altar yet and the Morrigan's already told me to keep her things as far away from Tatay's as possible. Like, "across the room if possible."

In general, Tatay gets along with the traditional gods (Lir, the Dagda, Brighid, Danu) and tends to dismiss the "unconventional" ones (the Morrigan especially). He also thinks Ogma and Aengus are bad influences. Aengus gets along with him, but apparently he's "too forward for a love-god." Ogma has a habit of telling awesome stories and going "Yeah, that was GREAT," as opposed to "That's why you NEVER do

What makes Lir or the Dagda traditional, and the Morrigon not?

It seems that "traditional" for Tatay means "adheres to expected gender or age roles." The Dagda and Lir are adherent to custom, while the Morrigan is not. He adores Brighid because she's a healing/artist goddess, and Danu because she's the calm Mother-goddess, but he thinks the Morrigan is both stepping out of her bounds and acting too young for her age.

Like, he keeps giving vibes that the Morrigan "should know better."
