I recently read a translation of and commentary on the Orphic Hymns which had a bit of information on this.

Under the epithet Prothyraia, which was associated with Eileithyia (the primary goddess of childbirth in mythic sources) and Artemis as well, Hekate seems to have been worshipped as a goddess of childbirth. I would suggest looking into that epithet.
