Ok, so I searched the website. And, please forgive me if I've asked this question before. I'm having some memory problems.

Does anyone have any information on the Goddess Nyx? I have used Theoi and Maicar websites. But there is very little information on her. I'm really interested. Should I ask over in the Hellenic SIG? Oh, and Hesiod's Theogony.

I'm just curious because there doesn't seem to be any talk of her worship. Considering she is in the same category with Gaea. Did the ancient Greeks not consider that group very important?

Nyx is my goddess. She's been with me since I first dedicated myself as pagan and probably even before. Now that I know she's in my life, I can see how much influence she's had over me these last few years. I'm debating whether or not I want to completely dedicate myself to her. On the one hand, it's a huge step. But on the other, she's the one I've always felt closest with and I don't see that changing any time soon.

I don't have too much information on her. I just know her from the little research I've done and my relationship with her. I do know that in other myths, Hesiod and general Olympic myth, it was Gaea and Tethys that were considered the Mother Goddess. Nyx had very little to do with the beginning in their stories, so very little was thought of her. Zeus was always afraid of her, though, so she was respect, just less important.

 But in Orphic myth, she was quite important. In those stories, she was the first. It was Nyx, not Gaea or Tethys, that created everything. She was also the Oracle. She used to sit in her cave and deliver prophecies with Rhea in front, playing her drum to call attention to her.

I've read a lot of stories saying that Nyx is cruel and evil. In my experience, it's not true at all. She may have given birth to all the less positive deities, but that doesn't make her evil. She's brought nothing but good things to me.

But be warned. She does like to test your limits. lol I went a good four months with no help from her. I was at my wits end. I did a card reading, begging the goddess to help me and tell me what to do. And the first card I pulled, no exaggeration, said that the goddess had abandoned me to see how much I could handle on my own. lol I was so mad, but relieved that she had at least put that card in front of me to tell me what was happening.

She prides independence, I think. She wants you to be able to stand on your own two feet and figure things out on your own. Granted, she still answers every prayer I've ever prayed, though, in some form or another. But if i become too emotional over something small, or ask her too many times for help, she shuts me out. Whiners are not her forte. lol

I've also read that she's jealous and doesn't work well with others. Well, I've recently started praying to Nyx, Gae and Tethys as a Triple Goddess/Mother Goddess group thing and she doesn't seem bothered by it yet. But just be prepared that it could happen.

I just adore Nyx and neither do I consider her cruel nor evil. I do not have any stories to share though... at least not on my mind right now
