* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Anyone here work with Nyx?
« on: March 25, 2016, 09:49:16 am »
I see a lot for Hecate etc, but not enough for Nyx, the goddess of night.

I am having troubles not only finding others but also finding shops/stores, resources etc in her honour?

Anyone here got any ideas, resources, suggestions?

Nyx is a tough one because a lot of the results when you search for her are from that House of Night series. We've had people bring her up before but I don't think any of them are still around.

I'd love to hear why you love her, though!

I worked with her a long time ago when I was still in high school. I had to keep my shrine stealthly, because of my dad. When he discovered my shrine he took it down. It consisted of a glass pedestal candy dish with tumbled stones and a malachite egg. My incense burner was a cobra that looked like a snake statue. I used the Universe/World card from the Thoth Tarot as inspiration. I used pine scented candles for her. I know that some people don't combine gods, but I had such limited funds so I used some Isis or Nut imagery for her. I didn't think it was a big deal to link the goddesses. Anyway the shrine was up for about a year until my dad pulled everything down; he let me keep the stones, but everything else left the house.

I did walking meditations at night in the park by the house. I really felt a presence with me. I never found out if it was Nyx, but I read Ovid's Metamorphosis at the time and made my conclusions. I still feel safe in the dark and sometimes I get the urge to do another night walk.

I felt that Nyx is a non-demanding, live and let live, aware entity.

I guess you are already familiar with this Orphic hymn, translated by Thomas Taylor?

Night, parent goddess, source of sweet repose,
from whom at first both Gods and men arose,
Hear, blessed Venus, deck'd with starry light,
in sleep's deep silence dwelling Ebon night!
Dreams and soft case attend thy dusky train,
with the length'ned gloom and feaftful strain.
Dissolving anxious care, the friend of Mirth,
with darkling coursers riding round the earth.
Goddess of phantoms and of shadowy play,
whose drowsy pow'r divides the nat'ral day:
By Fate's decree you constant send the light
to deepest hell, remote from mortal sight
For dire Necessity which nought withstands,
invests the world with adamantine bands.
Be present, Goddess, to thy suppliant's pray'r,
desir'd by all, whom all alike revere,
Blessed, benevolent, with friendly aid
dispell the fears of Twilight's dreadful shade.
