Festvial/Feast Day for Sekhmet?
« on: February 21, 2013, 05:06:25 pm »
I asked in a different thread, but haven't gotten any input. I once had something on my calendar for Her in August, but I've lost the date. Anybody have anything for Her?

Thanks1

The Festival of Drunkenness is celebrated in the first month of Akhet which, for some, is in August.  The fixed calendar I use puts it on August 24th.

Does that helps?

I'm a little dense. Is the Festival of Drunkenness associated with Sekhmet? If so, very helpful. :)

Yup! Super long story short (one of the versions I know, anyway, with some added dramatic flair for your amusement):

Ra was in danger. Het-heret got super pissed because Ra was threatened. Cue action transformation sequence and we have SEKHMET, bloodthirsty Eye of Ra who goes on a rampage and comes close to devouring the world. The Netjer put Their heads together and fill up the entire Nile with a dark red beer that looks like blood. Sekhmet (who is literally bloodthirsty at this point) chugs back the river, gets incredibly drunk, and falls into a stupor. She reverts into the more peaceful Het-heret and the day is saved. The End.
Maker, though the darkness comes upon me,
I shall embrace the light. I shall weather the storm.
I shall endure.
What you have created, no one can tear asunder.

This image will never leave my mind.  LOL!
I am the Goddess of Who I can Become. I mix the magic of the sorceress with the blade of a warrior. I walk the liminal pathways to see the face of the Goddess, both terrible and kind. As She stares back at me, I tremble in awe and ecstasy.  --SatAset

Normandi Ellis also mentions it in Feasts of Light.
