30 Days of Deity Devotion Participant List
« on: January 31, 2014, 10:24:36 am »
Hi there- a while back an interesting blog popped up called 30 Days of Deity Devotion. I feel currently I'm busy enough with the Pagan & Cauldron Blog Projects but I was interested in what other people were writing, so I began making a list (since there wasn't one). If you are working on this or have a link to share of someone who is, please add it to the thread, and I'll add it to my list. As I add more there will be 3 categories: completed, currently active, and inactive (hasn't been added to in several months) if a blogger becomes active again, they'll be added back to the active list (same policy with my blogroll)
Please give links to tags, categories or pages marked 30 days of deity devotion or another agreed upon tag (30DDD I just thought of, but it makes me think of bras...)

This is the first I've heard of it. Can you tell us more about the project? What it is, how one participates, ect?

Sorry, I'm making an @ss out of u and me...a guy on Tumblr going by Arrin Deugnatos started it- his blog isn't there anymore but here's a repost http://luxettenebris.tumblr.com/post/40795070844/30-days-of-deity-devotion
The idea is you go through a list of questions about a particular deity to explore them in depth. It could be every day of a month, or spread out further (more people seem to be doing that) Some people combining more than one per post. The questions also get more complex as they progress, so that gives you time to get to know a deity
I'll go ahead & put the questions here:

1) A basic introduction of the deity
2) How did you become first aware of this deity?
3) Symbols and icons of this deity
4)A favorite myth or myths of this deity
5) Members of the family – genealogical connections
6) Other related deities and entities associated with this deity
7) Names and epithets
8) Variations on this deity (aspects, regional forms, etc.)
9) Common mistakes about this deity
10) Offerings – historical and UPG
11) Festivals, days, and times sacred to this deity
12) Places associated with this deity and their worship
13) What modern cultural issues are closest to this deity’s heart?
14) Has worship of this deity changed in modern times?
15) Any mundane practices that are associated with this deity?
16) How do you think this deity represents the values of their pantheon and cultural origins?
17) How does this deity relate to other gods and other pantheons?
18) How does this deity stand in terms of gender and sexuality? (historical and/or UPG)
19) What quality or qualities of this god do you most admire? What quality or qualities of them do you find the most troubling?
20) Art that reminds you of this deity
21) Music that makes you think of this deity
22) A quote, a poem, or piece of writing that you think this deity resonates strongly with
23) Your own composition – a piece of writing about or for this deity
24) A time when this deity has helped you
25) A time when this deity has refused to help
26) How has your relationship with this deity changed over time?
27) Worst misconception about this deity that you have encountered
28) Something you wish you knew about this deity but don’t currently
29) Any interesting or unusual UPG to share?
30) Any suggestions for others just starting to learn about this deity?

To participate, I would recommend reposting this list on your blog, then linking each most to the relevant question, and/or using "30 days of deity devotion" tag.
I just added the question list to the page I created, and made this page for the participant list_

I forgot to ask: Does this start in March?  There's only 28 days in Feb. :)

Good point. It doesn't have to be attached to a specific month or done for 30 consecutive days. If/when I start on it, it will probably be once or twice a week. So you can just start now if you like.

Well this is sort of a meme that has been on the web for a while more then a project. You can write as much as you wish for a day. I know that I did not get to finish nuada for January, curse you school! Though, I hope to finish mine by the end of Feburary.

Side note, this is not the only 30 days thing for pagans. The other one that I might do later in the year is 30 days of paganism. here is the basic set of questions, though they are generally changed to suit your own particular path.

1. Beliefs – Why Paganism?
2. Beliefs – Cosmology
3. Beliefs – Deities
4. Beliefs – Birth, death and rebirth
5. Beliefs – Magic, spellcraft, mysticism etc
6. Beliefs – The power of prayer/reciprocity
7. Beliefs – Patronage and other deeper relationships
8. Beliefs – Holidays
9. Deity Gender
10. Patrons
11. Pantheon – For these posts, pick a deity or speak of elements of the patheon, such as tribes or nature spirits, etc.
12. Pantheon –
13. Pantheon –
14. Pantheon –
15. Pantheon (anti) – On finding a pantheon.
16. The meaning of terms like “earth-based” and what they mean to this path
17. My ways of worship
18. Community
19. Paganism and my family/friends
20. Paganism and my relationship
21. Other paths I’ve explored
22. Paganism and major life events
23. Ethics
24. Personal aesthetics with magic and ritual
25. Priest? Clergy? One or both? Neither?
26. Any “secular” pastimes with religious significance, and why
27. How your faith has helped you in difficult times
28. One misconception about Paganism you’d like to clear up
29. The future of Paganism
30. Places of spiritual significance

And here's one specific to Druidry, started by Alison Leigh Lilly: http://alisonleighlilly.com/blog/2011/30-days-of-druidry/
Even she's only gotten 1/3 of the way thru it!

I don't know much about Nuada, I'd be interested in seeing more about Him.
