* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Morrowind loses points with me because of CLIFF RACERS! No monster has made me want to go on an in-game murderous rampage like those cliff racers!

Also, Bethesda just announced the contents of the Collector's Edition of Skyrim: http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2011/08/05/skyrim-collectors-edition-is-150-includes-a-dragon/

It looks cool, but THE PRICE! There's no way I can afford it. T_T I need a job, badly. Actually, even if I could afford it, I probably wouldn't buy it.

200-page artbook with a nifty dragon statue!? Gaaaaah I want this collectors edition so much now, but I'll never be able to afford it in time for the release. D:

Also, lawl, cliffracers. I love to hate them. Always ended up using cheats to raise my acrobatics skill up to 1000 just to jump clear across Morrowind to avoid them. xD

Or enchanting a couple of rings with cheap destruction spells whcih was much easier in Morrowind than Oblivion. Enchanting seems less good in Oblivion - I've hardly used it at all.

Me either...and where the hell is my levitation spell in Oblivion?  Seriously, guys - it made fighting from stealth so much easier in Morrowind and they just took it awaaaaay.

*giggles* I'm showing this to all my buddies who are looking forward to Skyrim.

I just watched a gameplay video comparing Oblivion and Skyrim, and I know I shouldn't get so hyped for it BUT ZOMG DO WANT!
Here are some features I noticed:

-Inventory looks neat and tidy, sort of...minimal?
-Dialogue is in complete sentences (none of those annoying keywords from Oblivion)
-You can have a spell in one hand and a weapon in the other, or dual wield for extra awesome
--there are "perks" like in Fallout, the level up screen is very pretty (it has the constellations that are used in the game)

I also watched an interview with Todd Howard (the game's director) and he said that they played through Oblivion and realized that a lot of quests were "generic" so they tried to put in more quests with a story to them.

I know it's still a few months away from release, but everything looks great to me! I hope they don't have to...drop features or something...

Ooh ooh ooh where???

Also...

Is anyone getting that 'please please please don't let it be a disappoinment oh gods it's going to be a disappointment oh please let it be as good as I think it will be...' feeling?

Here's the video interview with Todd Howard:

and here's the video comparing Oblivion and Skyrim:

And yeah, those are my thoughts exactly. I must say, I'm loving what I'm seeing!

I found a website that lists possible minimum system requirements, and I think my computer might have a chance at being able to play it (on low settings), but I'd rather wait for Bethesda to release official requirements before I get really excited.

Thanks! I shall go off and view them now.

I play on an XBox - that way I can curl up on the sofa. Cats + Wine + Elder Scrolls = Excellent way to spend the evening. I played Oblivion on the computer for a while but in the end gave in and bought it for XBox because I like my gaming better that way.

Nah, this way I have time to find a job so I can earn some extra money that will go towards Skyrim (the regular edition, not CE). I swear, my wishlist keeps growing. I just added Bethesda's new title "Dishonored" to it. (It sounds cool, but I'd like to see actual gameplay first.)

I've even gotten my friend excited about Skyrim. She played Oblivion for a bit and didn't like it (of course, she didn't do any of the guilds or side quests). I think that the fact that your character is a blank slate didn't sit well with her; she likes games like Mass Effect. I was like: "But duuuuude, you missed so much awesome!" I STILL remember the Dark Brotherhood, Mages Guild, and Thieves Guild storylines. "Whodunnit?" is probably my favourite quest in the entire game. :)

Now, should I play a Breton mage-warrior thing that I've been playing since Morrowind, or create a brand new Nord character? Decisions, decisions...

Didn't do the side quests? Well I can understand her not liking it then - I think the main quest's decidedly weak in Oblivion, if fact I still haven't finished it. Working on that at the moment :P I just get completely distracted by side quests and 'ooh I wonder what's in this cave?' I've had to start a Nord warrior whose entire aim is to do the main quest line, and even then I got distracted by the Virtuous Blood quests.

Yeah, I sort of think of it as going to Dairy Queen and not getting ice cream, even though I hear their burgers are pretty good.

I found the main quests in Morrowind and Oblivion to be typical "save the world" stories, interesting, but nothing mind-blowing. It's the off-the-beaten path stories that are really compelling IMO. Unlike you, I'm not a dungeon-crawler, I'm more of a "talk to everyone and see where that leads" sort of person. I'll do a bit of poking around in caves, but TES seems to enjoy throwing mobs at my squishy wizard body. :)

Lol I like to talk too. :) Morrowind's main quest was better I think. The first thing you got told to do in Morrowind, once you'd got to town, was 'go off, buy some gear, get some training and stop being so green, here's 200g.' Which allows realistic space in the story for going off and doing those side quests. In Oblivion it's 'OMG we're in a hurry!' right from the start which makes me feel there's no logic to going off and exploring the place at a leisurely pace. Plus from a certain point the Oblivion quest seems to be 'go here, close yet another gate' and all the planes of oblivion are exactly the same... booooring. I'd much rather become head of the Thieves guild.

There's far fewer factions in Oblivion too. I hope there's more again in Skyrim - it increases replayability no end.

Ugh! I hated those gates! I literally just ran right through them, didn't even bother to fight if I didn't have to!

I loved the faction quests. They were the best part of Oblivion (and I really enjoyed the Knights of the Nine expansion even though the final boss was the easiest fight ever).

I found a screenshot comparing the race models of Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. It's interesting to see how much things (graphically) have improved over the last decade.

And I love the new Argonian model! Now I just have to wait and see if the digitigrade legs are coming back...

Also, looking at that screenshot made me realize how soulless the eyes of the Oblivion models looked. o.O
