Games: RPG Maker VX Ace, Anyone?

Does anyone have any experience with this thing? I just bought it on Steam because I thought it would be cool to turn some of my fiction into cute little games for people to play.

I've played a ton of 2D JRPGs, so I understand how things are supposed to "work"...sort of....and I read all the tutorials on their official website. The problem is that they stopped at talking about the theory behind events and....didn't get to how you make the events. How do I create a cutscene with dialogue between characters? How can I make a quest where they're like "get ten logs, good, here's a boat!" and get the boat to appear on the map? Stuff like that. I guess I could mess around until I get it, but I'd appreciate some instruction.
