FlameKeeping Inspired Divination

I think this came up on the old board at one point, but I was wondering how other people used divination in regards to FlameKeeping. What types of methods, questions asked, spreads used, etc.

Do you feel it's a useful tool?

Do you feel it falls under Dark Flame or Bright Flame work for you?

Do you have any spreads or methods you use that work really well for you?

And I'll go ahead and answer my own questions.


Yes I feel it's a useful tool. I find even if I'm unsure about the magic or the way the cards work, my reaction to the cards will tell me more about the situation than the cards themselves.

In that sense, it's definitely Dark Flame work for me. But I also think it falls under Bright Flame work as, at least this past year, I was fairly well known as the token pagan in the dorm and doing Tarot readings allowed me to connect to people, hear their stories, give them what advice I could, and point them in the right direction. It also was kind of an interfaith outreach in a way. I had a few very religious people get convinced to sit down with me for a reading and I found that afterwards they were a little less squeamish and afraid of Paganism and divination.

I just came up with this spread this morning but already it's really helped me. So for what it's worth, here it is:

3 - Current Status of Bright Flame
4 - What Dark Flame work need to be done

7 - What to watch out for during Bright Flame work/What could screw it up
8 - Result of Dark Flame work
9 - Result of Bright Flame work
10 - The Divine/Universe Card

I'm still unsure of the exact meaning of the Divine/Universe Card. I think it can mean different things depending on the spread. All I know is when I did this spread myself, that card wanted laid out and it wanted to say something about the connectedness of my situation to the flames and to the universe. I think it's a bit of a mystery I suppose. Something each person could understand differently.

I looks like a lot of cards but it didn't take that long to read when I did it.

Oh, this is fabulous.

I want to create (and have started working on) a FK based oracle deck. I could really use some help from someone who is who competent in tarot card use.  Would you be interested?

I'm looking forward to reading this.  My curiosity is piqued!  I've been reading for 22 yrs now and find that I get more from "non-traditional" decks.

I've just updated the Oracle card thread with ways you can help.

Also, I plan on trying your spread later with the cards so far.
