Welcome to the FlameKeeping Discussion of the Week thread for 10Jan12 through 16Jan12!

Topic: "Potential"

Background reading: Living up to Potential; Doing as much as I can

Questions:

What are your goals?  What are you doing to reach them?

What do you think you should be doing?  Are you?

What does the Divine want of you?  Do you know?  Is it what you want from yourself, or different?

Oh boy.  (Why did I pick this topic?)

I have several goals and all are connected to one another.  It is impossible, IMO, to set a compartmentalized goal - a spiritual goal will affect a professional goal, which will affect a health-related goal, etc.  Seeing that connection and understanding it is key.

Until recently, I've spent years doing a lot of whingeing and whining about my goals, and it's not gotten me anywhere.

I think I should be spending my time tuning in on the connections between the goals to see how one will affect another before choosing which goal to pursue.  I am starting to do that now.

The Divine wants me to be Who I Am, to strive to Improve, and to uphold ma'at.  These are also my goals.

You are right though, Veggie-these are very difficult to answer.

I am trying to come to terms with myself. Who I am, what I am, what I want/need and, just as importantly, the reverse of these. I am constantly searching for answers, which is what I believe I should be doing.

I believe that the Divine wants me to be me. The problem is, most of the time I don't know who or what I am. That is what I have to work on.

What are your goals?

Being a happy, healthy me?
Besides that little thing and connected with it - being:

A witch
A writer
A healer

I always think, too few and chances are that this is true.
I need to study more, read more, be more.

I need to do more, more practice, less armchair.
And 'No' I don't think I do it right.

But even on days, I am perfectly productive, I am thinking I did not succeed.
I fear for my own judgement, it will never be enough, no matter how much I did.

I don't know what the Divine really wants.
I think it wants me to be a witch and a writer and a healer.
Sometimes I can't tell, where these goals come from. It just happened.

All in all I am not content with how I do things.
It's just the right topic at the moment. I am right at the point where I need to ponder all these things.

Why do we strive at all?
Does it really make a difference?
Is it the divine that gives us the urge to create or is it something in us, that wants to not be forgotten?
\'You had to repay, good or bad. There was more than one type of obligation.
That’s what people never really understood.….Things had to balance.
You couldn’t set out to be a good witch or a bad witch. It never worked out for long.
All you could try to be was a witch, as hard as you could.\'

Questions:

I really only have short term goals. And most of them are a 'do it and check it off the list' type goal. I don't seem to make long term goals or ones that require multiple small steps.

I feel like maybe I SHOULD have long term goals. And there are a few different reasons I don't. Fear of failure is a big one. Changing interests is another. But I think the biggest problem is that I am unsure of my own passions. Which is kind of sad.

I have no idea what the Divine wants of me. I don't know if the Divine (as in a more collective consciousness) knows I exist.

Hopefully my goals are okay... I went short term over long term- because I feel they are more solid.

Simply put? I don’t really know. My current short term goals are to better my health (mental and physical) and to help my SO start his therapy (preferably before the year is out). Long term, I’m not sure. I think I need to contend with the short term before I attempt the long term.

To reach them, I am going to a doctor/seeking therapy/treatment for my health. I am actively working on bettering my health and creating a time and place where I can heal. For my SO, I’m working on saving money and planning steps to follow once that starts to get under way. I don’t feel like I’m doing enough right now- but it is what it is.

I don’t know what I think I should be doing. Probably conquering the world at this point. I always feel I’m not doing enough. Currently, I think less is more. Healing takes time. If I constantly over work myself, I’ll never get better. And right now, that takes top priority. In pretty much all aspects of my life. If I can’t fix this, I will never get to the ‘next step’. For the second part, I should be saving more. I’d love to save more… but I’m less than stellar at it. All I can really do is attempt to get better at spending less money. That just takes time and practice.

Something. I’m not sure what that something is- but something. I feel like the gods are preparing me for something. Beyond that, I haven’t a clue. I personally want to help others learn. I want to be a resource for people. Hence why I started this place. I have a feeling our goals overlap.

Really my only goal is to be a better me and the first step is to become healthier. I do have a few health problems that are out of my control but my weight is one that contributes to those within my control. Before finding meds that helped the last thing on my mind was health all I wanted was the pain to go away. Now that the pain is under control I can start to change the other.

Yes I am taking steps albeit slowly. I have found out that I am gluten sensitive through elimation which has helped with swelling and stomach issues. Now I am changing other eating habits ie fresh food, very little sugar, etc. My next step is to get back into yoga and moving muscles that I've long forgotten.

I don't know what the Divine wants of me. I do know that taking care of myself and getting healthy can only make me more ready for whatever is in store.
