Today, I plan to clean up all the papers in my office.  What will you do?

And, TODAY, one and a half weeks from when I set the goal, it was met!

Next, tackling the books that aren't on shelves.  Roll on, clean house!

I have discovered that I'm really only down to the boxes of things that I don't have a place to put yet, which is why I keep procrastinating on putting them away. Interim goal is to figure out what I'm doing with those things. Also there are a couple of specific furniture pieces I think we need.

In the meantime... carry water, sweep floor, I guess.

Lucked into the perfect corner shelf on Craigslist on Saturday, so the rest of the statuary is now out. Picked up a cheapie TV stand so that stuff is all unpacked now too. Got hangers for the coat closet, so the coats are all hung up and the luggage holding them is put away.

Also did the dishes! Tonight's laundry, tomorrow's mopping.

Still got five or six boxes in the living room waiting for attention, and need to figure out a better laundry system. Next weekend we're going to paint and hang art, hopefully. In the meantime, I have to find spaces for two hanging shrines.

Like a bunch of other people, I'm thinking about starting my spring cleaning.  Like a bunch of people, I'm dreading the actual doing and don't actually know where to start.  So, I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we could talk about what needs to be done during a spring clean, share ideas, and maybe track our baby steps toward unfucking our habitats.

So, what are you planning for spring cleaning?  Have you started?  How are you prioritizing, and what have you done today?

I am no where near to having my house clean enough for it to feel like my home.  That is my goal.

Long story short, when I get frustrated how slowly its going, I remind myself that it took a long time for it to get that way.  Time both ways is unavoidable!  As long as I'm making progress - well - I'm making progress!

In the beginning I made lists, loads of lists, lists for everything!  I found it aggravating.  I felt guilty every time I passed it on the fridge whiteboard.  So, I developed a new technique.  Before I go to bed I write down a list of what I accomplished.  The next day I feel inspired every time I pass my fridge!  (Ok, technically it is still a list.)

This is my operating rulebook.  1. As long as I'm making progress - I'm making progress!  2. Write down my accomplishments for inspiration.

I'm pleased to report that it's working. :D:

Today I decided that I would do one of the big jobs in my office- sort out the DVD collection. It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be! I didn't realise we had quite so many! I tend to collect series' of things. It doesn't seem so bad until I tried to get them all together. 9 series of 1 thing, 7 seasons of another, the complete collections of 5 or 6 others, plus lots of other stuff (I have 46 discs of Dr Who alone!).

At least it is done and out of the way now (and off my to do list). I've just emptied all my bookshelves and I'm going to organise those now.

I'm tired, but it is a good kind of tired! :D:

Yay!

I finally managed to vacuum my office floor and today I boxed up my entire collection of CDs to go into storage.

Nice one.

We did that a couple of weeks ago - threw a lot out. In our case, the culprits for we have too many discs of this were Buffy and Star Trek. SJ had to be bribed, literally, before agreeing to give seven seasons of bloody Voyager to the charity shop. (We kept the whole of Next Gen, of course.)

No excuses! It is still a version of Star Trek- hand in your geek card immediately (unless you can mitigate yourself....)

I vote yes. Trek is geek-mainstream, but Firefly still has some 'cult following' cachet.

At least you stand a chance! I'm not trekkie at all - I think I need to go figure out which of my big pile of fantasy novels my geek card is playing bookmark in so I can give it back!
