They do make me want to burn the house down.  My roommate and I are good friends.  The problem arises because I have a sort of mental block that won't let me clean in front of people, even if I live with them.  I can occasionally avoid the block, but not enough to keep up with the mess.  If he left the house to go to work, it would be different.  But he works from home, fixing computers for people who drop them off.  And I feel for him, he does have legitimate clinical issues with leaving the house.  He will only do so on his own after dark, when everyone else in the town is asleep.  If it's daylight, it's a quick walk to the grocery store for a bit of food, then right back to the dent in the couch shaped like his butt.

I do hate the not rinsing dishes as well.  I have no clean cups or forks right now because I'm waiting for someone else to remove the dishes from the sink.  What makes matters worse is that my husband will complain about our roommate too, but then instead of doing something about it, he will just slink back to his computer and play his Total War games.

I sooo feel for you. I get grouchy when the place is a mess. I've driven an ex-roommate nuts before because he was messy and I broke down and freaked out on him. He almost ruined a bathroom floor. He let the shower run out of the shower-space all over the floor and didn't dry it for days so the floor got all bubbly and lifted off the ground. I saw it a few days later (it was his bathroom) and saw that it was still wet and about turned into Cu Chulainn having a warp spasm. Banged on his bedroom door and told him to clean it or he's replacing the floor. It was never the same after that encounter. I will admit it--he got so high on my shit list after that that I kind of made his living with us miserable just to drive him out. I regret that now and have apologized since but.....hell hath no fury like BrighidsAura in her messy house!

Im SO LUCKY now because my boyfriend is actually quite neat. He gets pretty weird about mess too so he actively picks up and cleans (as in sprays and wipes down. Actually "cleaning", not just picking up!) I really lucked out on that one.

The other thing I cant stand is dog smell. We have a 7 mo. old black lab who sometimes will smell like...well...a dog. I have a scentsy in every room. I refuse to be one of those homes that people walk into and go "Oh, do you have a dog?"

I was just doing some ironing (and getting very annoyed at a shirt) and thought about asking other people- what really gets on your nerves around the house? For example, I really hate when my hubby and my daughter take their shirts off without undoing buttons, so when I come to iron them, I spend more time undoing buttons than I do with the rest of the pile! I also truly hate greasy cold water left in the kitchen sink..... *shudder*

What drives you completely gaga around the house (or garden- whatever you like)?

I call my husband "hurricane". Everything is left everywhere. His half of the bedroom looks like clothes exploded. Leaves dirty Kleenex on the end table. Aaarrrrhggg.

Around the house, the xbox. There are always cords, wires, controllers, headphones and games scattered everywhere. When I clean it up, I get asked where I put it all. Hmm, maybe try looking in the TV cabinet where it belongs? Or, I know! Pick up after yourselves! Seriously, you'd think that a teenager and grown ass man would be able to clean up their own toys.

Also, I think I need to paint a bullseye inside the toilet. Yuck!

In the garden? My landlords have hired some guys to cut the grass. Just the grass. They're supposed to stay the hell out of the flower beds. So far, they've cut down half of my irises, some lilies, they've hacked at the roses, and just last Saturday I caught one of them trying to cut down a thistle that I've been tending since spring!

Lucky for him he gave up just as I was about to go outside, then my phone rang... But the next time they come, (provided I'm home) we're having a very long talk before they even get started!

I'm gonna!

It was the strangest thing. I was standing at the window when I saw him go after it. I started to get all ragey, and then he just stopped. I know he didn't see me, because he never even looked up. Maybe he could just feel the hate... then there was the phone, but whatever. The thistle is still standing.

Also, my new pic is the thistle in question. I prettied it up at photobucket. I figured I'd better get a picture of it before some other asshat decided it needed to be destroyed.

Drives me nuts as well. I actually laughed out loud when I read this, though, because I was just noticing that the xbox controllers are not in their usual drawer and are right on the tv stand.

Hey, it's better than on the floor!

There's one on my floor right now and I'm not picking it up. Maybe if one of them steps on it (black controller on a black rug), they'll learn to put their toys away :whis:
