What drives you completely gaga around the house?

Well...for starters, my roommate's boyfriend. The fact that he's around the apartment living with us for weeks at a time when he's supposed to be living two hours away, not eating my food and being a deadbeat.

I won't even walk into the boy's bathroom. I live with ONE guy (not counting the boyfriend) and it's disgusting. I'm trying to teach him about cleaning but it hasn't worked yet. I just can't - I see that toilet and yuck!

What drives you completely gaga around the house (or garden- whatever you like)?

I have a whole laundry list of things, if you'll pardon the pun.

First, the toilet paper thing.  I swear, I'm the only person who remembers that there's not supposed to be an empty cardboard tube sitting on the roll.

Then, there's my mom's laundry.  She'll just leave it in the dryer, then insist on re-runing it because if it's not fresh out of the dryer, apparently that means it's hopelessly wrinkled.  Then she forgets about it, and has to re-run it again.

There's also the fact that my dad never takes off his shoes, which is normally fine, except we have snow right now, so he tracks in water, which I always end up stepping in, and then have to clean up.

The worst, though, are the dishes.  My mom leaves dishes full of weird stuff lying around the house.  If she does put something in the sink, she doesn't rinse it out, and it's usually gross.  And a lot of the time she'll throw recyclable stuff in the sink for me to take care of instead of rinsing it out and putting it in the bin like we're all supposed to.  Oh, and she regularly clogs up the kitchen sink.

Oh, don't you just love the sink full of cold greasy water that you have to plunge your arm into to unplug? Is it just me, or does the sink seem a lot deeper than usual when that happens?

I'm also having fun with plates and cups being left all over the house at the moment. I swear, I've found some that have developed language skills and have both fore and surnames! *shudders*  Why am I the one who gets to attempt to clean them? (Everyone else vanishes off the face of the planet if I even think of asking them!)

We have a dishwasher, that's the best part of it! But, Noel likes to put things in soak overnight, usually if I've gone to bed before him. So I get up to a sink full of cold greasy water that desperately needs emptying!

I'd love to get one of those one day.
The house we're renting does have a dishwasher, but it's written in our lease that we can't use it.

I've had that landlord.  I once rented a house with a huge, very nice empty attic (ran the whole length of the house).  We were told we couldn't use it.  Ever.  Our landlord even preferred we not go up there, but said it was okay if we really needed to.  Why he thought we would when none of our things were up there I have no idea...

What drives you completely gaga around the house (or garden- whatever you like)?

1:  Roommate and his friends watching cartoons and smoking at midnight when I go to bed.  Then WAKING UP to them still there, watching cartoons and smoking when I am trying to have my coffee and smoke quietly.

2:  Roommate and friends letting the ashes fall on my brand new couch.  Also, the coffee table is not an alternative.  Lean up, get the laptop off your stupid lap and use the ashtray!

3:  Piling trash on the stove and counters instead of just changing the full bag.

4:  People not cleaning my good Caphelon skillets when they're done cooking.  I've had one set ruined already.

5:  Clean your f@#%ing hairballs out of the drain after your shower.  And don't cheat by placing the hairball on the shower wall.  We have a toilet and a trash can right there.

6:  Quit running a sink full to do dishes, then forgetting about it to go smoke and watch cartoons.  Your wasting soap, water, and my patience.

7:  Quit trying to "protest against the Man" and pay the cable bill on time.  All your doing is causing yourself to owe even more money to Comcast.

My little brother. I love him to bits, but if I still had to share a room with him, I'd have strangled him in his sleep. Despite his mum's best efforts, he's still no good with tidying up, and every time I step barefoot on another Lego piece, I wish it would get sucked up by the vacuum (many have). Also, despite being six years old already, he still hasn't figured out how to look at things without making grabby hands at them, and once he takes something away from its place, he promptly forgets about it and the rest of us can tear up the place forever to find it.

Also, I hate the fact that neither male of the house, big or small, seems to be able to find their way to the rubbish bin or the sink, instead leaving used mugs and plates, wrappers and packaging on the sofa, the table, or simply wherever they fall.

My biggest home pet peeve EVER: NOT risinging out dishes!!!! And leaving them in the sink!!! I don't know how many times I have to tell people: Just placing dishes in the sink without rinsing them almost clean adds so much more time to your dish doing. You have to pull all of the dishes OUT of the sink, try to rinse off crusted crap, and then set them all on the counter so you can fill the sink and put them back in it again. At my house, we rinsed our dishes and put them next to the sink on the counter. Im trying to convert every one in my house to my ways but....no one has seen the light yet.

Your pet peeves would make me want to burn the house down. haha. I would be bothered about a lot of these things!

The hairball one is my boyfriend to a T. He'll open the bathroom door with a red hairball in his hand and a stern stare at me. haha. He hates it. The other thing he'll do is call me over to him--no matter what else I'm doing-- and point at the empty toilet paper roll and say "what is wrong with this picture?" Smart ass. Maybe I can use this as some tool to get him to put dishes on the counter :p

They do make me want to burn the house down.  My roommate and I are good friends.  The problem arises because I have a sort of mental block that won't let me clean in front of people, even if I live with them.  I can occasionally avoid the block, but not enough to keep up with the mess.  If he left the house to go to work, it would be different.  But he works from home, fixing computers for people who drop them off.  And I feel for him, he does have legitimate clinical issues with leaving the house.  He will only do so on his own after dark, when everyone else in the town is asleep.  If it's daylight, it's a quick walk to the grocery store for a bit of food, then right back to the dent in the couch shaped like his butt.

I do hate the not rinsing dishes as well.  I have no clean cups or forks right now because I'm waiting for someone else to remove the dishes from the sink.  What makes matters worse is that my husband will complain about our roommate too, but then instead of doing something about it, he will just slink back to his computer and play his Total War games.
