I'm an organ donor, then after they take whatever they can use, cremation.

I think that the whole embalm, coffin, bury thing is rather wasteful, in money and space, so I'd like to be cremated and scattered across a beach or in a forest.

I don't know if any pagan paths say what should be done with a body after death. I'm just curious to everyone's responses. Does your faith influence what you want done?

I'd like to build an old style viking dragon boat and be pushed out to sea and have a flaming arrow set alight the boat. I want people to mourn but to be happy that I'm starting anew in a new form.

I'm an organ donor, but after that cremation  with my ashes put in the ground and an Irish wake to remember me.

I will be cremated. No, what faith I have (or sometimes lack thereof) does not influence it.

I want to be either cremated/buried with my guitar, a couple magazines, a bottle of Capt. Morgans, a pack of smokes and a transistor radio.
Really?  So, hey, want to go fishing?  I\'ve got a telescope, and it\'s going to be a dark night, so we should see the fish really well.
...what, I\'m not talking about fishing?  That\'s stargazing?  It\'s all doing-stuff, so it\'s the same thing, right?

I opt for cremation.  No reason to spend money on a plot and a box when my body is going to putrefy anyway.  I would like a Masonic memorial service, but as far as anything specifically religious, I haven't decided.

While you might be able to do that over that side of The Pond, here in America they have very strict rules about what you can and cannot do.

Unfortunate - as part of that now prevents your relatives from scattering your ashes in nature settings - at least in parts of the country - so no stream/river for me, which is where I'd LIKE my ashes to go

I'm fairly sure that your relatives could go off for a peaceful forest camping trip and set you free without anyone knowing a thing about it. ;-)

Ideally, I'd like to be cremated and then shot into space. But obviously space costs millions of dollars, so I'll settle for a beautiful forest or a Hawaiian beach.

Cremation and leaving my ashes in the mountains at home. We already discussed it (my husband and I) and he's a little iffy on it because our family has a reserved space in a cemetery back home, but I'm sure we'll figure it out. :) Either way, I'll be at home amongst family.

I want my body donated to scientific research. After that, I want to be cremated, buried and then have a tree planted over me.

I would like my body to be burned on a funeral pyre and have the ashes used as fertilizer in a hemp field.

I will be cremated and my ashes scattered where I was born. Or in Finland if I can actually arrange that. There won't be any grave for me and hopefully there won't be a traditional funeral. I'd like for my family to have some sort of naturalist pagan celebration instead.

This is precisely what we did for my husband, well sort of.  Since he died suddenly at home, they pronounced him there and there was an autopsy, there were no organs other than corneas and skin taken.  We had discussed what we wanted, and we are having a companion urn made, the kids insisted it be a companion urn, and we'll have him put in it, and then eventually, me.  We had a wake at home, potluck, I passed out some of our homemade mead, the guys from his work cooked the hotdogs and hamburgers, and I brought him and his paperwork back to lllinois with me (you have to have paperwork to transport cremains across state lines).  Eventually, after the kids think it's appropriate, they will scatter our ashes together somewhere.  We, unfortuneately, don't have anywhere we really want them to go other than outer space, so we're leaving it up to them.

That sounds really lovely, and pretty much exactly the kind of thing I'd like to do for my own funeral.

There were several people wierded out by the fact that we didn't have an actual funeral, but this is what he wanted and we had actually discussed it.  Several people at his brother's work gave money to their catholic church (since the family is nominally catholic) for several masses to be said in his honor, and I doubt he would mind that either.  One of the ladies at my daughter's work lost her daughter at about the same time and went to a shrine in Mexico City, and asked if people wanted to send prayers (the keepers of the shrine burnt them unread, I don't know which saint this was), but Tia wanted to send something with her and we did.  The paperwork for his cremains was the thing that wierded me out the most.
