How many of you have and wear a Pentacle in public?

So now I wear it again, and now I am getting the feeling people are feeling weird near me again.
Your thoughts? Thanks :D

I wear mine when I wear my caduceus... they're one and the same. The star's on the back, the caduceus is on the front.

I get asked if I'm a veterinarian (I work in a pet supply store... which begs the question, if  in retail, why the HELL would I be a vet? Or vice versa?), or if I'm in the medical field.

Only one canny Wiccan noticed the pentacle.

..and I'm not even Wiccan.
I do altar art, icons, and pagan art!

I wear a sign of Mercury that's rather large, but most people assume it's decorative. I don't like to talk to people I don't know well about my religion, so if people ask, it's related to my life as a writer -- which is true.

I normally wear something else - it is based on the symbol for Jupiter but at first glance looks like an equal armed cross. It takes a much closer look to see the sigils on the solar disc behind it. No one has ever commented upon it and I wear it most days.

The pentagram does not have a lot of meaning for me and I will only wear a pentagram pendant if I want to make a point or I  want to catch someone off balance for one reason or another.

I used to wear a pent once in a while, and mostly kept it under my shirt.

Now I wear a hammer all the time, and most of the time openly. I've had one person ask "Thor's hammer?" and when I said yes, he replied "Nice" and that was the end of the convo. Most of the people I interact with don't know, or care, what it stands for.

I'll tuck it away only when I think a confrontational situation might occur.

Back when I wore a pent I was twice asked if I was Jewish and once asked for directions to an esoteric bookstore.  Nobody else appeared to notice.

Yes, that covers my experiences too, more or less.

I love jewelry and I wear it.
So I happen to own a pentagram ring, a bracelet and two pendants. And if I feel like it, I wear them.

Also there are other symbols, a little disc with a Mercury symbol on it, spirals and a lot of gemstones.

I give not a damn what people might think or say.
And somehow - save those two, or three incidents - nobody treats me different.

Oh, just found this quote the other day, comes to mind now:

Do what you feel in your heart to be right — for you’ll be criticized anyway.
You’ll be „damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.“

(Eleanor Roosevelt)
\'You had to repay, good or bad. There was more than one type of obligation.
That’s what people never really understood.….Things had to balance.
You couldn’t set out to be a good witch or a bad witch. It never worked out for long.
All you could try to be was a witch, as hard as you could.\'

One of my favorite quotes ever, it pretty much sums it up all around lol. I don't really pay much notice to the occasional "star of david" query, etc. but I do always notice when someone gets right to the point with a "nice Hammer/Pent" etc. The one that really impressed me was the individual who recognized me as Pagan simply because I was wearing a combination of Honeysuckle and Patchouli :o) I guess it's true, we can smell our own!
Wishing you laughter

I have a tendency to run from people who wear Patchouli.... Migraine trigger. :(

I wear both a pentacle (to remind me where I've started my journey as a Pagan) and a hammer. Since I'm a sucker for low necklines, it's pretty much always visible, apart from when I go to my aunt's services (people in church might object, so I cover it up with a scarf), or when it's really cold in winter.

I've been wearing my pent for about 10 years now, and so far only 2 people have commented on it - one of them was a very good friend, who's Wiccan; the other one was a friend of a friend at a birthday party, and he was genuinely interested in what it meant and what I believed in. People tend to ask more about the hammer since the Thor movie came out, but I see it as an opportunity to tell them we don't worship action heroes :p

The thing is, as long as people are friendly and ask what the symbols mean, I'm happy to answer. And after all, my green fringe and my spider earrings usually draw more attention than my necklace ;) And if people who don't know me try to tell me what I should wear and what I should believe in, I smile and tell them it's none of their business.

Oddly enough, for me it's Lilac or Lavender...not usually at Migraine strength but still feels like a hammer right between the eyes, instant headache. Patchouli varies in scent quite a bit, and I'm not as fond of some as others but at least it doesn't hit me like Lavender... which is supposed to cure headaches lol

I wore my friend's once... for about five minutes. It was made with nickel and I'm allergic to that. I do wear a Thor's hammer, though. When I first got it, both the pendant and the chain were made out of silver and I just wore it under my shirt, so most people never saw it. I broke the clasp a while back and when my friend fixed it, she put a nickel clasp on it, not knowing that I was allergic. So if I wanted to wear it, it had to be outside my shirt. I was kinda uncomfortable doing that, but I soon realized most people don't know what it is, and multiple people have called it a cross before.

Do you know if its a reaction to a real or artificial scent? Fake lavender makes my eyes water etc but the real deal is fine.

How many of you have and wear a Pentacle in public?

So when I decided to start back up with Wicca/Paganism, I wanted something that would be a constant reminder to myself that I have chosen this path. And I found a perfect little Pentacle necklace, it's about 1". :)
The cord I currently have brings the pentacle about halfway between my collarbone and breastbone. So when I wear certain shirts, it's visible...
But, I feel that when i wear my necklace in public, people treat me different, or, as soon as they see that necklace they are apprehensive of me?
For a time it bugged me, and I stopped wearing the necklace, which made me start lacking in my religion, big time.
So now I wear it again, and now I am getting the feeling people are feeling weird near me again.
Your thoughts? Thanks :D

This is what I wear.

It's an old brass button set in sterling silver.  It's from the 1800's.

Years back, when I used to wear a pentacle, I always kept it hidden under my shirt.

I've been wearing a pentacle for years in plain view. My deal is - I don't care what anyone thinks, and if they have questions I will answer them. I also have the right to ignore any bad remarks or stupid questions. :)

Thats the truth! If a Christian has the right to wear the cross, I have the right to wear my pentacle, trinity knot, Celtic knot..ect.

I used to wear a pendant that I had that was a pentacle with five interlocking circles.  I wore it all the time.  When I moved to Florida I took a job where I really couldn't wear it outside of my shirt because I was a security guard.  We weren't allowed to wear jewelry at all because of the safety risk.

Now that I'm not working anymore, I moved to the middle of nowhere and it's really just extremely conservative here.  I'm testing the waters, but I've also found that over the last 2 years, I've just lost the identification with the pentacle as much as I once thought.  I had a goddes-mother necklace that a friend lent me when I was pregnant with my second son, and I may look into another one of those, but I think I might beholding out for the pendant that FierFlye designed for Flamekeeping.  It speaks more to me, and people's eyes shouldn't bug out of their head when they see it and gasp "Oh my goodness!!  Are you a Satanist!?"  which is what I've gotten before.
