Oh yes, this sounds quite a lot like my work too and it's definitely good to mix up some quick wins with some bigger pieces of work.

It's a toss-up though; the large volume stuff tends to be easy to process, while the one-offs will have me scratching my head, hunting through files, and talking to three different people before I figure out what to do.  >:(

I'm curious about how other people balance timing and other things, for rituals or magical practices that have some complexity (i.e. need some set up, or will take an hour or so to do, not daily things or short things you do regularly).

What works for you? What doesn't? What sometimes works? Do you have tricks for doing this?

(The reason I'm thinking about this today in a following reply.)

Personally - I have done rituals by the seat of my pants and they've been good, while planned ones... not so much. I don't know what it is, but during a fly-by ritual, I get the instinctual urges to do certain things and listen to my gut. On the flip side, I only do rituals when I really feel the need to.
