We're having an open discussion  on magic morality at my local Pagan club's next meeting discussing the dubiously moral implications of spell work, karma, sacrifice/offerings, freewill etc. in different religions and comparing each to others.

It's hopefully going to be a very good discussion. How do you view this topic?

i think that people thinka magic as cheatin a lot and you shouldnt do it to if its not to help people because then its unfair. like if ya use it to get a job or win a contest or somethin. but i think that magic is as much as a skill as muscles are to a wrestler. so if ya gottit flaunt it! B)

but also my magic morals arent that great and sometimes i cast spells just to play tricks or see what happens. sooo....

If it's wrong to do it with physical means, it's wrong to do it with magic.

If it's okay to do it with physical means, it's okay to do it with magic.

People who think differently scare me.

yeah yeah mostly this seems good too! course i think theres a difference between the wrong of killing someone to death with magic and the wrong of givin someone the farts. hahaha

You got it. It's also my stage name, and shockingly few people pick up on it.

I adore that book and I found so much deeper meaning in it.

Especially the part where they tell the prince she touched him once to heal him and she touched him the second time for him because she loved him...

ahh

in a lilac wood is the title of my blog.

Agreed. *nod*nod*

Then there's little grey areas where things may be from not that easy to not possible to do with physical means, but don't cause anybody any harm none with magic.

I'll use a couple of examples, which are fresh in mind due to just having used that latter at a gig:

With physical means it would be quite impossible for me to be at a gig, among a few thousand dancing, jumping, thrashing people with  an empty circle around me (my husband said it looked a tad freaky). I'm small, but not that into getting trampled while enjoying music. :whis:

Because of my size, actually seeing something at gigs may require not only navigating physically to a better spot, but also putting in front of me an idea of "hey, I want to be somewhere else right now!". It may be realizing you're out of beer and going for a refill, spotting a friend behind me and joining hir to downright taking a look behind and letting me come forward (as few people have trouble seeing the gig even if I'm in front of them).

I never push people, that can lead to getting elbowed as easily as it could with a physical push.

I've done that too - I hate being jostled ;)

Troubles comes with this simple query: what is 'wrong' and what is 'okay'? These are subjective human concepts, not verifiably objective or universal. What's 'wrong' for you might not be 'wrong' to someone else, because your ethical codes may be different.

Even so, someone who says it is X is okay to do without magic but is not okay to do with magic (or vice-versa) worries me. That would be like saying it is moral to kill someone with a knife, but not with a gun. Whether something is moral or not should depend on the "something" not on which tool one chooses to use to do that something.
