Now, I will be blunt.  No One gets booted from Lokeans without being told what caused the boot (and yes, I say this having been permabooted myself last summer).  

But Really... whiners and children?  you are calling some of the most thoroughly published and well educated authors in all of heathenry whiners and children?  Lets think about that for just a minute.

It is my experience that when people stomp and yell about others condemnation of bad behavior it is because they are the ones that are exhibiting it the most in any given situation.

 
I'm not talking about any authors. I'm talking about normal people from John Q. Public. Constantly whining, overly emotional, and quick to take offense.

They did me a favor, really. They saved me from having to hit the leave button. I was going to leave anyway.

The only person in the community that has even remotely earned my respect is Galina Krasskova, because she's an awesome author. The others, well...heh...

 
I thought Galina was more of an Odinic.... Odean... Odinspouse? So I wouldn't have automatically thought of her as part of the Lokean community, but I suppose she does tend to run with that crowd, doesn't she?

Though I agree that one cannot take things personnally from any internet group that does not know the subject personally calling Lokeans obnoxious and batshit is really unhelpful in general.

As someone who does know the subject somewhat personally, I would like to second the original statement. Not all people who worship Loki are batshit. But the active online community which calls itself Lokean is full of a lot of very loud-speaking people, who direct the flow of the community, and many/most of those loud-speakers are either dealing with severe emotional issues and lashing out at everyone, or are massive attention-sponges. The Lokean crew is attractive to people with self-esteem issues who burn to prove their special snowflakery, and it's been attracting those people for a long time now.  

Even when it seems like everyone else has a working godphone the reality is that hey this is the internet there are massive masses of people here and to quote dr house "everybody lies".

And this is exactly the point about the Lokeans. There's a lot of other groups with this problem lately, but I am so sick of people speaking of literal godphones and conversations and visions I could puke. But this sort of language is, for whatever reason, the norm amongst Lokeans, so people feel the need to follow the crowd and talk in similar terms, not realizing how much they're exaggerating their experiences. It's an insult to Asatru and Heathens, the same way teen Wicca is to BTWs.

As if Loki was ever about following a crowd.

I'm not sure who you're talking about here, but I wanted to add that Lulu isn't a respected publisher of academia.

(I've got major respect for Galina Krasskova and some of her associates, even if I don't always agree with their interpretations, because they do their own thing and DGAF, AND they are actually living a dedicated lifestyle. They're not just talking about it on a forum. Also, interestingly relevant, Galina just had this post: A Few Things To Consider About Hard Polytheism... to sum, you don't need a personal relationship with your gods, you don't need a patron, you don't need to "hear" them, and they don't treat ever person the same way, and you are not a "better" or "worse" worshiper for it.)


 Anyway, regressing the conversation to outlaw393; if you need acceptance by a group, you may want to think deeply about why you are attracted to Loki-worship (or any god worship) in the first place.  As I said, my experience with the Lokeans is that there are a large number of people with social difficulties who are trying to martyr themselves by proving how different and special they are, or alternatively don't take their religion very seriously and treat it like a fun online game.

I wouldn't call Stephan Grundy a Lokean either. Though IIRC he's a member of the Facebook group, but that's not at all the same thing. Just because someone protests the ban on Loki in the Troth doesn't make them a follower of Loki.
