You are rude.

I did the best I could considering this is my first time participating in a pagan forum and considering my tradition was built on the putting down of paganism.

I come from apostolic pentecostal, Baptist,  and jehovah witnesses. Yet I haven't put pagans down. Even when I first started. Your newness is not a crutch. And like I said,  if you had apologized and refrained from insulting it would be different. But every apology was followed by another insult.

You know, many of the best and most pleasant religious conversations I've had over the years have been with people who were either Jewish or of Jewish heritage, since my own religious perspective is generally far more similar to theirs than to most Christian theologies.  (A point of some shared frustration at times.)

I'm disinclined to let you blame your religion for your choices, since it would require I discard my experiences of good, decent people who do not randomly discard civility when speaking to a polytheist.

Gotta say, that's a pretty fucked up [sad] tradition.
See, where I come from, putting down something you don't understand would be called ignorance and/or prejudice.  Using words in such a manner that they have super speshul {incorrect} meanings, known only to you , just muddies the water and further annoys the locals.

I wonder, does your tradition stand for anything?  Far better for a trad to uphold something rather than knock others all the time.

What version of Judaism do you come from? I'm not an expert by any means, but I've known Jews from a number of different branches of the religion and I've never known one whose religious tradition involved putting down other religions, except those religions which are actively antisemitic (and that did not seem to be feature of the religious tradition but a feature of being human when under attack by others).

Sunflower backed out on me (it was you , sunflower?) that I was going to run away with once it was legal in Illinois and we were going to leave the sprouts with their daddies.  Once civil unions were legal, she backed out on me.

I don't think so, since a) I'm not raising my sprouts, and b) I'd have just told you to move up here, where SSM has been legal just about as long as I've been on TC.

I've been expecting this ever since I became staff - heck, I used to sometimes wonder why I never got thrown into the mix when people were confusing you and Star even before then.

(Speaking of being staff, I've been fixing the @#$%&* quote codes so that the blasted things wouldn't curse us unto the seventh generation . So those subconvos no longer have a referent and may not make sense.)

I am sorry that I stuck in provocative(judgement) statements about paganism in with my desire for someone to recommend primary pagan sources.  I shouldn't have done that.
I use the word pagan(and heathen) pejoratively(judgementaly) in the sense of someone(s) who was born and bred in the country/heath(think 'Nazareth') to be more likely to develop/hold an idiosyncratic religion than someone, say, from 'Jerusalem'- the religious center.  And I assume that if I were born and bred in such an isolated state/area, I would use every 'trick' in the religio-spiritual book because I would have no controls from an elite religio-spiritual center to hold my religio-spiritual horses from running wild.  In other words, I would trespass on holiness in my ignorant, uncorrected enthusiasm because I would have no one to give me a sophisticated enough argument to disabuse me of the very natural notion that as long as I FEEL I am getting closer to God through my practices/ideas, then I am in actuality [getting closer to God].

I just using this post as an example, but all your posts are just a little confusing. Maybe its the lack of punctuation, not sure, but I have read this whole thread and I have no clue what the hell you are trying to say, learn or gain from this discussion.........

That said I have appreciated some of the snappy comebacks from regulars in this thread.

Really?  So, hey, want to go fishing?  I\'ve got a telescope, and it\'s going to be a dark night, so we should see the fish really well.
...what, I\'m not talking about fishing?  That\'s stargazing?  It\'s all doing-stuff, so it\'s the same thing, right?

Yeah, my brain pretty much shut off after LAGoff defined Paganism as "idolatry" which he further defined as "too close to a deity." Total "what!?" moment.
