Part of the problem is that I really believe in keeping rules.

I believe in keeping rules: so long as it's done by someone else :D:

And you with that quotation from Rumi, too — come on, join us on the wild side. I know that's what the cats would say!

Part of the problem is that I really believe in keeping rules. (I'd make a terrible anarchist.) It's a mix of being afraid of getting in trouble, and believing that I need rules or I'll get all out of control and/or set the house alight. If I can remember that I am capable of being responsible for a few candles, I think I'll be all right. :D:

Oh. We may also have told the landlord that we only have two cats.

It's been a difficult time, trying to find a house...!

I thought anarchist were allowed to set and follow their own rules.

The Rumi quote is aspirational. :D:

Yep, anarchism isn't against rules, it's just against rulers (read:hierarchy).

It was a joke, not a political manifesto. (I'm not always very good at jokes. There's no reason to point that out repeatedly.)

Oh, I know, I got it :). It was mlt52's comment that seemed a little less tongue-in-cheek.

Yeah, I ignored the ban all four years of college. What can I say, I'm a "those rules don't apply to me" kind of person. :) The trick is to know EXACTLY where all your candles and incense are when inspection time rolls around. And when someone knocks on your door say "I'M IN A TOWEL GIVE ME A MINUTE" and rush around pushing things into drawers.

Exactly. I'd be one of those types too :P And I was never caught! Haha!
Our bedrooms were never inspected but my first set of flatmates had a jarred candle (might have been a Yankee candle) out in the living space and a word was never said. I'd imagine they're safer too :)
They tried to come into the bathroom once when I was wrapped in a towel! I was like 'HELLO! Can you not hear the shower going?! I'm in the nip!' XD Oh college accommodation memories.... :rolleye::

If you know the times for inspection I'd just hide the candles for that, then take them back out when they leave :P Maybe replace them with flowers or LED candles to hide the empty spots :D:

Well, how often are all three in the same place at the same time?  Technically, you only know you have a cat when you can see it.  ;)

...one of my cats is Schroedinger's cat??

(I suspect Merlin the Ancient Wizard.)
