Cool Crochet Amigurumi-ish Goddess Doll
« on: September 13, 2018, 01:03:06 pm »
Where are my crochet/knit crafty Pagans at?

A wonderful person in a Crochet Discord I frequent (hookedoncrochet) shared a project I think would be extremely enjoyed here! I got their permission (KittyRaces did this doll for anyone that joins or is already a part of the server) to post their Ravelry link with the project details. It is really cool, check it out! https://www.ravelry.com/projects/presently/goddess-doll

A link to the base Goddess Doll pattern by Catriona Allen-Bryce on Ravelry:
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/goddess-doll
And a link to a simple view of the project itself instead of the pattern page:
https://www.ravelry.com/projects/presently/goddess-doll/slideshow?fullscreen=1&start=74507493

I am thinking about trying the pattern for the base doll out at least. I think it would make a nifty way to make a Goddess-For-Every-Purpose for my mum's altar. Then I just need to tweak the pattern a little (arms plural instead of a circle to represent both arms) to make a few male Gods to round out the set and I think mum would be happy with it as a Holiday gift :)

This server is all-craft friendly and super at helping new crocheters learn new stuff; Keep in mind this is a mostly PG server if you decide to join.

All credit for the project does NOT belong to me, I did not make this thing but I was granted permission to share it. The pattern for the base doll is a freebie on Ravelry.

This is such a cool project! Thank you for sharing it!  ;D

I love that the pattern is in UK terminology, saves me having to translate it and write it out, and also it seems like a fairly simple pattern which is a relief as, as much as I love crocheting, I tend to go easily wrong if there's a lot of different stitch types/crazy increases or decreases all over the place so I feel like this project would actually be doable for me!

Also, I had never heard of Ravelry before but I signed up to check out this pattern and it seems like a wonderful resource!

As soon as the air starts to turn colder I get the urge to stock-pile more wool and get crocheting new hats and scarves for the colder season so this couldn't have come at a better time as the crochet itch was starting to get to me :)

Welcome to the rabbit hole. XD

Rav's amazing, but it can be a dangerous time-suck of "Patterns I love and will probably never do". If you look at my profile I have 248 faves, 278 in my library, and 90 queued. Some are overlaps, but that's still a LOT of patterns. ;)

Welcome to the rabbit hole. XD

It's such a gorgeous rabbit hole, though.

(I am also on there, as Jenett, though I haven't posted much recently, as I have not been knitting a lot.)

(Feel free to add me, if you wish.)

And me. Turns out what I mostly do on Rav thus far is collect crafty friends and relatives, and look at patterns (and occasionally favorite them) when somone else goes 'Ooh!' with a link, but I'm there, and hopefully will eventually become active again about learning to knit.

Thanks all, I think I've added you all now. My username is Gizmotron on Ravelry, just in case any of you were wondering who this random person is that added you  ;D

Hahaha I feel like this is exactly how I will use the site as well. I love looking at all the amazing things people make and I think to myself 'Oh yeah I could make that' and then I save the link and forget all about it. But one day I will make all the things...maybe  ;D
