If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Now I am no longer sure I can live without  trying The Lady Of Shallott and Black Pearl and O.

I'm fixated on Baobhan Sith. For the remaining five slots... I have perhaps fifty scents competing. I need to sleep on it... and figure out how long it will take me to rack up the cash!

BLACK PHOENIX ALCHEMY WAS MENTIONED ON THE CAULDRON?!

I've wanted to get their scents for YEARS now, but they're nearly twenty USD each.

On hiatus, but might pop in now and then. Just making it official.

Apparently O gets some really intense responses from the opposite sex.;) The comments made me so curious I need to test firsthand.

O would be one of the ones that didn't work on me and now does. (I do not have decanting supplies, and don't want to acquire them before I move next month, but after that, I could do an imp sample.)

That's why imps and sample trades are awesome. I've done it both with friends, but also with occasional local meet-and-sniffs in Minneapolis when I was there.

It's also somewhere where I'm aware of the functional costs. The reality is that when we're talking oils I put on my skin - and especially oils for magical and ritual use - I want to know they're using really good and sustainable ingredients (and stuff that I would *never* manage to afford in sufficient variety on my own, though I also have a healthy collection of essential oils.) That, however, does cost money to do right.

I collected a lot of what I have at a time when $25 a week was my food budget - seriously, *no* room in my budget for extras. I have a whole lot of imps, many of which came as "Hey, try this!" from friends, and about half the 20 bottles I own were gifts from friends who knew I wanted a very specific thing. (And the rest were picked up over, oh, 6 or 7 years.)

One reason I like them, actually, is that they're a very cost-effective small luxury, once you make the initial purchase. An imp will last me 10-15 uses, used lightly (which for $3-4ish, is a whole lot longer lasting enjoyment than, say, a coffee drink.) And a bottle, of course, lasts a lot longer.

More of my bottles are either TAL oils or things I do use in quantity - because you can only get TAL decants second-hand (the Lab won't make them).

I found more than few among their oil blends very inviting so I wondered... have you tried any of those? If yes, did you notice the blends having any peculiar homeopathic effects? Have you used any for ritual purposes?

Do you know other places online that offer similiar products?

I am very intrigued by this concept...

I'm a huge fan, and I never used to be a "perfume" person before I was introduced to bpal. I've also used a number of their Twilight Alchemy Lab working scents to good effect; I'd love to see some discussion here about that, too.

I also have a lot of imps from their general catalogue that I'd be willing to share out to interested people; drop me a line or post list of what intrigues you and I'll see what I can find. I really, really like this company - both their product and their business practices - and I'm more than happy to share the love when I can :)

I'd also be interested in any swaps or discussion group that gets started here.

Me either - the honey note just doesn't work on my skin. Very sad. So I use it in candles when I get a frump.

Definitely register at and check out the "For Sale" section of BPAL.org.  Bargains galore, and plenty of cheap decants.  People also sell on eBay (though I haven't found many good deals there) and via various blogs.  If you have any questions, just ask.  I buy most of my BPAL from the forum rather than retail these days.

There's also http://sinandsalvation.livejournal.com/ (more moderation and price caps, also come general chatter) and http://bpalmarketplace.livejournal.com/ (for buying/selling, but no ISOs or price caps); I prefer the former but the latter can be useful for finding rare stuff.

is it as watery as they make it to sound? When I read the description I right away thought of daydreamings and lake waters.

It is on me, yes. That's why I reserve it for days when it's raining or very wet. You know how rain makes everything smell different? Well, the Lady of Shallott suits me on those days. On bright, sunny, hot days it just doesn't work.

You just reinforced my will to test it. I love the scent rain casts on the world. :)

I might have an imp of that one around; it's too watery/white for me (I'm more a dark resin/foodie girl.)
